"You just can't stop yourself from lying can you?" scoffed Steve as he walked into Nick Fury's office.

"I didn't lie," said Fury, "Agent Romanoff and Agent Dmitri had a different mission than yours."

"Which you didn't feel obliged to share."

"I'm not obliged to do anything."

"Those hostages could have died, Nick," Steve pointed out.

"I sent the greatest soldier in history to make sure that didn't happen," Fury turned on his chair to face him.

"Soldiers trust each other. That's what makes an army," he said, "Not a bunch of guys running around, shooting guns."

"Last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye," Fury stood up from his chair, "Look, I didn't want you doing anything you weren't comfortable with. Agent Romanoff and Agent Dmitri work best together and are comfortable with anything."

"I can't lead a mission when people I lead have missions of their own," said Steve.

"It's called compartmentalization. Nobody spills the secrets because nobody loves them all."

"Except you," Steve pointed out.

"You're wrong about me. I do share. I'm nice like that," Fury led Steve into the elevator, "Insight Bay."

"Captain Rogers does not have clearance for Project Insight," said the AI.

"Director override. Fury, Nicholas J."

"Confirmed." The elevator started to descend slowly.

"Y/N developed it?" asked Steve, "the AI." Fury nodded. "You know, they used to play music," he added looking around the elevator.

"Yeah," answered Fury, "My grandfather used to operate one of those things 40 years ago. Granddad worked in a nice building. Got good tips. He'd walk home every night, a roll of ones stuffed in his lunch bag. He'd say 'Hi', people would say 'Hi' back. Time went on, the neighborhood got rougher. He'd say 'Hi', they'd say keep steppin'. Grandad got to gripping that lunch bag a little tighter.'"
