Aurora's POV

"You look really good Rory."

Wow, it's hours later and I'm still thinking about Kai's words. He stared me down with this look in his eyes while complimenting me. God, I need to get a grip we've just meet today. He makes me feel so many different things, good things that you don't usually feel when you've just met someone.

Denny walks in between me and Kai going on about recent YouTube drama. "I wanna stick my foot up that girl's ass, she deserves everything that's coming for her. I know I told you Aurora that I like her, but now I feel like that fat bitch deserves my foot up her ass just as much Gabbie Hanna does."

Zara, Chris, and River are in front of us leading the way to our abandoned treehouse. We found it last summer while running away from a kids parent, we had stolen the kid's ice cream cone and their daddy wasn't too happy about it.

The treehouse is located in a forest behind an all-boys catholic school it was run down when we first ran into it, but we had spent the whole summer renovating the insides to our likings. When the treehouse is in view, I turn to Kaito for a reaction. It's small and probably not what he was expecting when I told him that we were going to a treehouse, but I think he'll like the interior.

I smile at him. "What do you think of it?"

"It's nice Rory but I want to see the inside." We leave everyone behind us. I take his hand into mine and run up to the house. I crouch down at the small entrance and crawl in Kai following close behind me, once we're in Kai has to lower his head in order to not get hit by the short ceilings.

There are small steps toward a small couch that only fits two people, the floor is cushioned with pillows from the thrift store, small flashlights that we make sure to use only at night are placed all over the small space and in the corner is a snack box filled to the top with candy, snacks, and drugs. If you were to lift up any of the wood floors you would find some of our fake ids and a few flasks of alcohol. Posters of Malcolm x, Muhammed Ali and Maya Angelou are plastered on the wood walls of the house and books are aligned along the floor beside the couch.

"This place is sick Rory!"

"You think so, Kai?" I know it's sick, I don't know why I want his approval so bad. I and Zara spent most of last years summer designing this place while the boys just added their own personal touches. Kai nods a response. He points to the small couch. "Can I sit?"

His neck is probably tired from crouching down at the entrance for so long. "Yeah go ahead." As he takes a seat the rest of the group join us. I don't want anybody else to sit beside Kai so I make my way beside him before anyone else can.

The couch is so small that as soon as I sit our thighs touch this isn't the first time this has happened but it's the first time I can't do anything about it. Whenever I sit I take up most of the space on the couch that's why I'm always sitting on the ground.

I look down, my thighs are big, and these stupid jeans don't do shit but make them look bigger. His thighs are skinny, and he takes almost no space on the couch. I wonder if that bothers him, that he doesn't even have enough room to move because I'm so big. Maybe I should move and let Denny sit beside him, he'll leave enough room for him.

"Get your long-ass head out of my face Denny God dammit nigga."

"I'm tryna get in but River is blocking the entrance, Chris."

"Tell him to move then damn, my Jordans are starting to crease up."

I look up to see River and Kai staring at each other with mean mugs on both faces. It's not that I haven't noticed the tension between them I've just been ignoring it. I figured the two would clash from the very beginning Kai is a sweet, gentle soul who I'm very attracted to, and River is not. "River do you think you could move so Chris and Denny could get in?" I didn't even notice Zara was in the house with me and Kai. You'd think she would say something if she saw me and a boy so close to each other but surprisingly she had stayed silent until now.
