Chapter 27

Alexander's POV:

I dropped Isabella at her house but I have a bad feeling about this but I brush it off and drive towards my parents house. I was thinking about what my dad found out about Isabella. Only thinking about her makes me smile. Her smile, her beauty, her innocence, her kindness is so captivating. If Nate or Jacob heard about these thoughts, they wont let me live without teasing. I chuckled at those thoughts as I turned my car towards our driveway. I get out of my car and make my way inside. I see mom isn't here so I ask one of the maids, "Where is mom?" She went out with her friends signore" (sir), she replied.

I nodded and made my way towards dads office. I went inside and saw Jacob and Nathan were already here. "Hey guys." I greeted them as I took an empty seat in the room. I nodded at my dad to start the meeting. "We can't leave Isabella alone. Russians saw her with you. And by the way you were acting around her I guess they know you care about her deeply," my dad said.

I do care for her but I never admit it out loud. I sighed, "What else did you find?" I asked. "Her parents Lucas and Jane Thompson were murdered and Isabella was supposed to die with them. It was never looked in by the authorities because someone bribed them and was ruled out as an accident," Jacob answered looking from the file. "But why would someone want to kill them?" I asked taking file from Jacobs hands to read.

"They had a clean record. Donated to various charities periodically. They were highly respected in their business group," Nathan said. There were photos in the file. It looked like they were taken after the incident. Isa told me that her parents died in fire but I did not expect it to be this bad. Their bodies were unrecognizable. They had burns all over their body. I shuddered at the thought of how Isabella went through all this.

Does she even know that her parents were murdered? "They were murdered because of their business. Lucas Thompson started the chain of restaurants and he became quite successful in a short time and whoever killed them wanted his business," My dad said. "As far as I know his business was supposed to go to Isabella once she was 21 but it never did. She is 23 now and I dont think she even knows about it," Jacob said. "Who can do this to her and her parents?" I thought out loudly running my hands through my hair.

Nate who was awfully quiet during all this spoke, "My bet is with David. I think he killed them. I don't like that man. You guys also noticed the way he behaved with my sister that night. I get creeps looking at that man." "Your sister?" I and Jacob yelled together with our eyes widened. Nathan rolled his eyes, "I like her guys." I clenched my fist at that thought.

"Don't worry big bro I don't like her in that way. I don't have hots for her like you. Don't tell Kate but her best friend is way better than her,' Nate said. "Who said I have 'hots' for her? I asked emphasizing on hots. "Tell that to your clenched fists," he said and snickered. I just rolled my eyes, "I'm so going to tell Kate what you said about her."

He was going to say something but dad cut us off "boys, we have a bigger problem than that. Now we know that Russians may be following Isabella and we have to protect her. And about her parents death I think we should try to find more. But that's not more important than protecting her. We can do that later. You go and talk to her tomorrow and see if she can move with you Alex. I'd say Knight mansion but me and your mom are going to Rome in few days, Nathan is off to Sicily to check the shipments with Jacob the day after tomorrow and Katherine is going back to Paris for her show by the end of this week," dad said sternly. I nodded in approval.

Dad was never protective towards others other than his family and Isabella is changing that. Damn that woman. Suddenly the office door opened and mom poked her head into the room, "Lunch is ready boys." We nod as mom makes her way out of the room. We soon get out of dads office and make our way towards the dining room.

I kiss on mom's cheek as I make my way towards my seat. Dad goes and kisses mom lovingly. I just wish I'd find someone to share these moments with. Immediately my thoughts go to Isabella. I shake my head at these thoughts. "Mom Dad you cant do this here. Not in front of your children!" Nate exclaimed. I rolled my eyes at him. They broke apart, "How do you think you were born?" dad said making mom blush. "I don't even want to hear about your rendezvous," Nate said gagging.

The maids come and serve the food as we start eating. We make small talk while eating. As we finished Nate asked, "Are there any cupcakes left that Isabella bought that night?" "No. You ate them all that night itself." Mom said making Nathan pout. "Pig!" Jacob said under his breath and Nathan shot him a nasty glare. I just chuckled at them.

"So what do you think about Isabella?" Kate asked as we all retreated towards the lounge. "First of all where were you young lady?" Dad asked her. "I went for shopping," Kate answered. Mom and dad are snuggled together on one sofa. Kate comes and sits beside me, practically snuggling me. I place a soft kiss on her head. Nate and Jacob sat on the opposite recliners glaring at each other. "Why are they looking like angry bulls?" I just shrugged. "She seems like a nice girl. I like her," dad said. "Yeah she seems like a genuine and kind girl. I'd like her to be Alex's wife," mom said, making me choke on wine I was drinking. "Mom!" I exclaimed. I don't like where this conversation is going. "What! She is way better than other girls you bring home." I just roll my eyes.

"She can be a better sister than Katherine," Nate said. Katherine gasped loudly, "How dare you say that?" "She bought cupcakes for me. And you don't share your food with me," Nathan argued. "First of all she bought cupcakes for everyone as a kind gesture. I even told her no but she insisted. And secondly you eat like a pig, that's why I don't share my food with you. If Isabella comes to know about this habit of yours she will chop your arms and shove it up your ass. That girl loves her food more than anything." "I love this girl already," my mom says excitedly. "She just needs to get out of her shell. She is an awesome person and a more awesome friend," Kate says excitedly.
