Chapter 13: Album Release

                                   Y/N's POV

it's been 7 months and it's finally the day that my debut album drops! there are so many great songs an here with so many great people, especially Lani. speaking of her, she dropped her album "It Was Good Until It Wasn't" last year and she's on tour for it right now so she won't be able to make it to the album release party tonight. i've been missing her so much, but i get to see her in a few weeks so i'm excited. we've been on facetime every opportunity we get. she sends me roses and letters every time she's in a new state, i love her for that, she's so thoughtful. let me stop talking about her before i get sad.

"y/n/n." i hear the front door open.

"who is it?" i ask

"it's D" he said

"oh, hey Destin." i go up to hug him

"you ready for tonight?" he asks hugging me back

"yes, i can't wait for people to hear our songs." i say. me and him have two songs with each other on the album.

"i hope you're gonna be okay without Lani being there." he said

"yeah, i will be, i do miss her a lot though." i say

"we all do, she'll be back soon though." he said

"you're right." i say

"well come on, Jermaine wanted me to come get you. he wants you to see the event so far." he said

"okay, let me get my things and i'll be out there." i say

"okay." he headed out the door and went to his car.

i look in the mirror and smile, this is a big day for me. i walk out of the door and get into Destin's car.

"put on 'Bad News' on, that's my shit." he said

i connected to the aux and played "Bad News".

and Destin sang from our gut. we both started harmonizing then the song ended.

"i miss her so much." i start to tear up.

"don't be sad, you're gonna see her soon." he said

"i know that, it's just the fact that it's been 5 months since she's been gone already." i said

"i feel you." he said.

Destin was the only person that knew me and Lani were dating. he was so excited when we told him.

we pulled up to the location of the party and got out of the car. we walked in and i saw Jermaine.

"hi Jermaine!" i run up to him and give him a hug.

"hey, how ya doin?" he said

"good, how bout you?" i asked

"great, you ready for tonight?" he asks

"i'm so excited for people to hear what we've made. thank you for being apart of this, it means a lot." i say

"you're welcome, let me show y'all around real quick." he said. me and Destin follow him and he shows us how everything it set up so far. he takes us to this area where he has pictures from the artists i worked with in the studio and i see a picture of me and Lani. i got overwhelmed with emotion and tried to contain myself.
