SABRINA'S eyes were kind

SABRINA'S eyes were kind.

Her hazel eyes examined my exterior, noting my uneven breathing and dilated pupils. To some, I probably looked like somebody who just went off the rails.

In a way, I felt like that too.

"Seriously, what's wrong?" She asked, lowering herself into the seat opposite me.

I blew out a long breath and fixated my gaze on the mug in front of me. "It's nothing."

She could sense that was not the case. I was usually a good liar but not when it came to the people in this pack about my emotions. Sure, I could hide my species but that was because I had been doing it for decades. This...whatever I was feeling, was a whole new territory.

"Keeping this to yourself isn't healthy. You should open up," She urged, cautiously.

"You're not my therapist, Sabrina," I snapped without meaning to. Immediately, I threw her an apologetic look. "Sorry."

Sabrina pursed her lips together, keeping her eyes firmly on me. Today, her brown hair was tied back into a high ponytail. She looked like she was about to go to a business meeting.

"I can be your friend, Liberty. I know most people here don't trust you but that's not the case with me. I'm starting to like your presence," She assured, trying to emotionally reach out to me.

Out of everybody here, Sabrina was the only person I felt like I could truly confide in. Other than that, I guess I could say Carrie although I knew she was hiding something.

Everyone else either avoided me or I didn't see them very often.

"Trust doesn't come easily to me," I muttered, warily. I wanted to believe Sabrina but I had to remain cautious no matter what. At the end of the day, her loyalties were with Alpha Gabriel. I was simply a traveler passing through.
