CARRIE scurried away as soon as it sounded.

I stared at her retreating form for a moment before falling into action mode.

The first place I needed to go was Gabriel's office.

With that thought in mind, I sprinted to his office, dodging worried pack members. They all paid no attention to me, going to their rightful places.

Just as I rounded the corner, Gabriel swung the door to his office open and exited it. His grey orbs were filled with alarm and worry. An attack now was not only unexpected but concerning. We weren't ready. We hadn't set up the traps Jacob was talking about. Our warriors weren't prepared yet.

He met my eyes. Our exchange spoke volumes. We both had the same thoughts in mind.

I rushed over to him. "How many?" I asked him, immediately.

His eyes glazed over as he mind linked his patrol warriors. There were always members of his pack patrolling the skirts of the border in case of intruders. They were usually there to stop and arrest rogues. But since the threat of Delta-Moon, Gabriel increased the number of warriors.

When his eyes returned to the normal shade of stormy grey, he gave me his full attention. "Only a handful. Maybe a dozen. Gomez is already there. I need to head off."

"I'm coming too," I informed him, leaving no room for argument.

This wasn't the attack. If it was, there would be more. I was certain.

So, if this wasn't the attack, what was it? A warning?

Gabriel looked like he wanted to argue but he knew it would be a lost cause. I was coming with him no matter what. The Alpha and Luna sorted the problems of the pack together.
