"SHE needs to go," Blade announced, slamming the office door shut with a jolt.

I swiveled around on my spot and observed him with a stony expression.

This was not the first time he had come to me regarding Liberty. He had made it clear from day one that he hated her and didn't trust her. She was a weasel in his eyes. And now the truth was out, he despised her for lying.

Since Liberty arrived, he has been a pain in my ass. Every time I met with Liberty, he would pop along and lecture me as if he was the Alpha and not I.

I am not a harsh man when it comes to my pack and I will let most things. However, blatant disrespect is not one of them.

My Beta is supposed to counsel me, not lecture me like I'm some foolish schoolboy. He would take every opportunity to persuade me to lock her up or kick her out. My patience with him was waining.

"Alpha, you need to listen to me. This...royal Fae is dangerous. I've said this before but now...we know. You have to do something." He continued, throwing his hands in the air dramatically.

My wolf pushed at the back of my mind, furious with my Beta. He has always wanted Liberty — from the moment I saw her in the dungeons.

"Enough, Blade," I shushed him, my tone strict.

He clamped his mouth shut, stunned. To him, what I was doing was bizarre. He had no idea who Liberty was to me.

"Alpha, why are you letting her stay?" He whispered, his voice laced with confusion and curiosity.

I turned my back to him and stared out of the window. My warriors were training outside, practicing their technique.

My wolf wanted me to tell him the truth, to confide in someone. I didn't have a best friend but if I did, that title would go to Blade. We had been through thick and thin together.
