It's been three days to the dinner party and things haven't been the same at home. Aunt and uncle left for Delhi on sunday, and now both Abhimanyu and dad have been making themselves scarce, coming home after eleven, and only for dinner. Though no more arguments happened between dad and Abhimanyu, neither of them have seen eye to eye in three days.

I doodle on the blank page in front of me, making cartoon characters when a knock sounds on my cabin door. A peon struts inside, holding a big bouquet of pink roses. He sets it on my desk, and exits. I search for a card, and make a silent promise that if this is from Shanaya then I am going to take revenge. But, my mouth dries up when I read the card.

Dear Ms.Rajput,
These roses reminded me of you.

-Vikrant.

A smile takes over my face, and I put the card back on the bouquet.
It's been a long time since someone sent me flowers. More specifically, flowers that were not sent to kill me. I tuck it away and sit back down on my chair when my phone rings.

"Hello-"

"Saanvi!" Trisha's squeals, from the other side of the call.

"What happened?" I ask curiously.

"I got the promotion!" She screams, and I fist pump in the air. Trisha works at a news channel and is a junior journalist who hosts the 4 pm news. But now that she bagged the promotion, she is officially a senior journalist and could be hosting the prime time news now.

"Oh. My. God! I am so happy for you." I squeal.

"We are totally celebrating today." She announces and I hum in response.

"So, it's a done deal, the truck at 8 pm. Okay?" She says addressing "The Truck" which is our usual pub, it has great food and is the best place for a night out with friends.

"Yup. I'll see you then. Congratulations again, I love you."

"I love you too." She says before hanging up.

I silent my phone, and then open my laptop to write a rough draft of "What woman actually want." and begin typing.

I shrug on a jacket to partly hide the dress that I am wearing. It's actually a really pretty lace dress, which stops mid thigh but I really don't know how mom will react seeing her daughter-in-law in a dress that is bordering on slutty. I leave my hair open to frame my face and put on my favourite stud earrings that compliment this dress really well. Instead of heels I choose to put on my thigh high boots as it'll be easier to dance in them.

Saanvi's outfit

I reach the main door and call out to mom to let her know I am leaving hoping I'll be able to escape without her seeing me in this dress

I reach the main door and call out to mom to let her know I am leaving hoping I'll be able to escape without her seeing me in this dress. But unfortunately she comes out to see me off and as expected, stops dead in her tracks when she spots me. I get concious of the outfit when she gives me a critical once over.
