"You and Saanvi will be going to the Sports-a-thon this time and that's final!" Dad orders in his firm tone, leaving no room for argument. I sigh in defeat and so does Abhimanyu.

Today morning just before breakfast Dad broke the news of a "sports-a-thon". It's an annual sports event at Dharmaya Properties where all employees participate in various sports and win. It's also a tradition that the the CEO (aka dad) always attends these events with mom. But this time mom and dad have to go meet a relative who just had a child that's why they asked me and Abhimanyu to attend. Turns out it's not only my company that likes to do "employee bonding events". Insert eye roll.

Attending an event with Abhimanyu is a far fetched idea, and attending an event as a couple is even worse. Ughhhh

For the past half and hour we argued with mom and dad on why we can't go. Listing reasons that seemed stupid to our own ears.

"Ok fine. I am going to go take a shower. " Abhimanyu pouts and walks out of the living room. Realising I don't have another option either, I do the same.

An hour later I stand in front of the mirror contemplating what should I wear....sports outfit or formals? Just then I see Abhimanyu walking past my room and immediately stop him.

"Abhimanyu!"

He turns around, directing his gaze at me and I falter. The memory of yesterday floods my brain and embarassment courses through me. He probably saw me naked. No. I push the thought away. I can handle this like an adult. It's no big deal.

I clear my throat. "Are you wearing that?" I ask taking his track pants and sleeveless hoodie in. He nods and looks over himself and then at me. "You should put on something sports appropriate too. But make sure to carry a change of clothes. We have to head to a dinner in evening."

"We?"

"Yeah....the sports-a-thon should be over by 6 or 7 pm and then there is a charity gala dinner hosted by a friend of dad who is also the CEO of a partner company, so we are going to have to go there." After he finishes I open my mouth to argue but he cuts me off.

"Before you argue, dad said it's also an order that both of us attend that gala."

"Fine." I roll my eyes and turn around to go back into my room. I choose a pair of black yoga pants and a white knotted t-shirt and tie my hair up into a ponytail. Just as I am doing some final touches of my usual makeup Abhimanyu calls from downstairs.

"Coming!" I answer. Grabbing my handbag and phone I rush downstairs. Abhimanyu is standing just outside the main door doing something on his phone.
"Ready" I announce stepping beside him.

He doesn't spare me a glance and turns around to go to the car.
Unlocking the car, we both take a seat.

Once the car pulls out of the driveway and we are driving on the road I decide to address the elephant in the room.
