When I reach home, I am welcomed by a dimly lit living room and a shadowy figure on the sofa.

"Abhimanyu?" I call out to him on the sofa. In his hand is a glass containing a dark liquid whiskey? His legs are spread out in front of him and some T20 highlights are playing on the TV.

He turns around and greets me with a mock salute, "Hey." He's dressed in a worn out black t-shirt which fits him too well. Showing off his body's definition.

"Hi...what are you drinking?" I scrunch my nose in disgust but he corrects me quick enough,
"It's just coke."

"Oh alright."

"Yeah..." He reduces the volume of the tv, "So how was your date?"

I feign nonchalance. "It was good. He cooked for me. We had fun."

"Oh so you went to his house?"

"Mhmm..."

He takes a long gulp from his glass,
"Damn. I didn't know you guys were that serious."

I shrug walking closer to where he is sitting. "We are not serious. Just testing the waters. I kinda like him though..." Still with the mind games, Saanvi?

"That's great. If you are happy then...." He takes another gulp, finishing the glass and setting it down.

I let my hip lean against the sofa, "I am happy."

"Perfect." His tone is passive agressive. I love that it effects him.

"Anyways what did you do tonight? Anything special?" I am horrible.

He shakes his head. "No. You cancelled on me last minute so I didn't really have much chance to make any plans."

That's like a punch to the gut. "Listen I am sorry about that. Vikrant had completely slipped my mind in the morning and-"

"It's okay." His tone though makes it clear that its anything but okay.

"Cool." I don't like his calmness. Why is he acting so....mature about this?

"You know you should also start getting back into the dating game and all. Atleast a rebound? It'll help you after Shanaya."

He keeps his eyes trained on the TV as he answers. "I don't know. I was thinking of waiting this out. I feel getting back into the dating game will be a better idea after we file for divorce."

"Uh yeah sure.... whatever sails your boat." Now he wants to wait? Nice.

"Mhmmm..." He doesn't bother to look at me again.

Ok this man is getting on my nerves. "Atleast look at me when I'm talking to you."

I hear him snicker before he turns his face, in slow motion might I add.
"What's up, Saanvi. Why are you getting mad?"

"I am not getting mad. You're just being disrespectful." My fist grabs the sofa arm tightly.

"Oh really?" He leans closer to where I am standing near the sofa end, "But I think you're just mad because I am acting calm about your whole dating Vikrant thing. Am I wrong then?"

I answer too quickly. "Get over yourself. I don't care how you feel about Vikrant and me. Don't give yourself too much credit."

Just as soon as I finish speaking and even have time to process it, he pulls me by my arm and I tumble head first into the sofa.
"What the fuck are you doing!" I scream as he helps me sit upright.

Abhimanyu doesn't say a word, just straight away removes the clutcher from my bun allowing my hair to tumble down. The movement reminds me of a memory I didn't even knew I remembered.
12 th grade, me and Abhimanyu alone at my house because our parents were somewhere out, us arguing, him undoing my bun.
