sunghoon + kai centric. really what happened on chap thirty three
also i'm tryna learn american school grades so don't come for me. i'm scottish >:(

after the males spilt up, kai, sunghoon, sunoo and jungwon went to the library to study. kai had started to notice that sunghoon seemed shaken up about something ever since he got back after his trip to the nurses office with soobin and daniel. before the four of them entered the library, he pulled sunghoon to the side, startling the younger.

"is everything okay hoon? you don't seem like yourself since first break." he asked with a worried expression. sunghoon opened his mouth as if he say something but shut it after he remembered jeremys words, quickly flashing kai a smile.

"i-i'm okay, just nervous about the exams next month." he half lied, scratching his arm. kai frowned at the slightly shorter male before grabbing the boys hands, now showing him a comforting smile.

"you're gonna do great on the exams don't worry, but are you sure that's what's bothering you?" the elder asked for a second time. sunghoon sighed and looked around, making sure jeremy was nowhere to be seen before bringing his attention back to kai.

"i'm sure. if there was something else i wouldn't keep it from you. we should get inside before they start to think we ditched them." the brunette spoke with a wide grin as he dragged kai into the library and to the table sunoo and jungwon was sat at with some black haired male.

"sunghoon! kai! meet ni-ki! he's a freshman from japan!" sunoo introduced them gleefully, the three boys bowing politely. "nice to meet you ni-ki." kai smiled at the younger before taking a seat next to jungwon. sunghoon stayed standing which made evereyone at the table look up at him. "aren't you gonna sit?" jungwon asked, gesturing to the seat next next to sunoo and across from kai.

"oh uh i need to go grab a book for history class. sunoo come with me?" he asked, well more like demanded. and though the younger just wanted to stay and talk to ni-ki, he obliged like a good best friend.

the two walked into the history section in the far back of the library, away from the table. "so what piece you studying for?" sunoo asked, looking at sunghoon.

"there is none. i just really had to tell you something without them hearing me." sunghoon admitted, making the younger raise an eyebrow. "what is it? is it about kai?"

"no it's about jeremy."

"who the fuck is that? is he new?" the blonde questioned, crossing his arms. sunghoon nodded. "he's the very tall male with a mullet that was next to soobin." he explained, raising his arm to the height jeremy was. "oh that creep. i saw him hitting on a junior and she looked very uncomfortable." sunoo gossiped, lowering his voice when he saw students walking by. "anyway what about him?"

sunghoon poked his head around the book cases to make sure kai was still sat in his seat, which thankfully he was before spilling the beans to his best friend.

"jeremy is lying to soobin saying he doesn't speak korean when he's actually fluent just to ruin soobin and daniel's relationship. he told me he wants to have fun with soobin until he becomes his step brother." he whispered, hoping jeremy was not in the library with them. "oh my god. relationship drama? what kind of kdrama is this? does soobin or daniel know?" sunoo asked question after question, very much enjoying the tea. sunghoon shook his head.

"that's why i'm telling you all of this. i'm scared of telling them because what if jeremy comes after me for snitching? what if he hurts kai?"

sunghoon was obviously worried sick about the whole situation. jeremy had barely been there a day and he was already causing trouble.

"okay well fuck this guy. we don't know him so we shouldn't care about him if he's just gonna be a dick on his first day. should i get jungwon to talk to him? he can even beat him up if you'd like." sunoo suggested, doing tiny air punches with a smile on his face.

"no but seriously, tell kai. he knows soobin way more than us plus he deserves to know."

sunghoon sighed, knowing the younger was correct and just nodded before they both walk back to the table. he sat next to kai and slowly opened his notebook.

"everything okay? where's the history book you went to get?" the platinum blonde male asked, noticing the other came back empty handed. "they didn't have the book i needed. i'll need to try another library."

"then do you want to go check after we're done here? the public libraries don't shut until late during the exam seasons." kai explained, turning his phone off.

sunghoon felt horrible lying to kai. the elder is far too sweet to be lied to, even if it's for his own safety. he knows sunoo is right, kai has to know but if kai knows then he'll tell soobin who will confront jeremy who will then possibly hurt someone.

after a three hour study session, the five males split up and headed to their homes while sunghoon and kai headed to the public library. they where nearing the building when sunghoon stopped in his tracks and grabbed kais sleeve to make him stop as well. kai looked back at him with a cocked head.

"can we go get food instead? i'm kinda hungry." the brunette proposed which the elder happily nodded to, changing their direction to head to mcdonalds.

as the two sat at their booth, eating their burger and fries, sunghoon tried to bring up the courage to finally tell kai the truth. he watched kai pull out his phone and turn it back on. "shit i missed seven calls from soob." he announced, trying to call the elder back but just for the call to end immediately.

"fuck i think he turned his phone off and i don't even have daniels number yet." kai looked really worried as he messaged beomgyu for daniels number. sunghoon took a deep breath and a sip of his drink before finally telling him.

"kai i have to tell you something."
