"It'll benefit the business." A girl's parents said, not having anything more to explain. "But... but... wait, I..." The daughter stumbled over her own words, completely thrown off guard by the sudden announcement they made. "Honey, we've told you four times already, you're to marry Kenny's nephew so we can get our half of the business when he dies." The (hair color) girl blinked a few times, trying to make it make sense in her brain but it was so foreign, her head kept spinning and spinning, not going anywhere. "I can't... I can't wrap my head around it." She mumbled, holding her head in her hands, elbows propped on the table. "(F/n), just marry the young man. With his last name, you can inherent investments and money. That's all we're asking for." (F/n)'s father patted her back, rising from his chair to get himself ready for bed. "I..." The young woman paused, unable to form a coherent sentence. "The date's already set too. You'll be a married woman by next month." Her mother grinned, kissing her head before following her husband. "Next month...?"
The idea of marrying her high school crush who was oblivious to her existence did not sound as bad as it actually was. He was some kid she saw in the hallway a few times and got teased about it by her friends when they caught her staring at him between periods. With failed dares made to ask him out, (f/n) never complied because eventually, she learned the hard truth that he already had a girlfriend since freshman year. After that, she had to slowly convince herself that it wasn't the end of the world, even though it still sucked.
Two years out of graduation and head deep in college, her parents made the arrangement to drop her out of all her courses so she could marry the nephew of their business partner. With a looming illness, surely to take him out, the idea sparked in her mother's imagination. Marrying Kenny Ackerman's nephew would surely guarantee them half of his money and hopefully, the entire company. The idea sounded horrible to (f/n). An arranged marriage for the sake of money, not love. When his name rung a bell, all those high school feelings came back in full force. Did he break up with his girlfriend? Does he know about the wedding? Is he excited?
In the midst, of trying on dresses and jumpsuits for the wedding, (f/n) felt terribly overwhelmed. "I don't know... they're all so nice, mom..." She bit her lip as she looked into the mirrors. "We reserved the entire store this afternoon just for you, (f/n)! Don't worry about the time, take as long as you need! You need to look breathtaking for your new husband so he doesn't change his mind." Her mother smiled innocently into the mirror. (F/n) hesitantly nodded and looked down at the current dress/jumpsuit. "Can I try one more on then?"
