"ALRIGHT EVERYONE, GAME ONE STARTS IN 10 MINUTES!"
Rosé tried to control her excitement. So far, this was the most exciting sort of date she had ever been on. She looked at her team and was sure they had a good chance of winning, even with Joy and Baekhyun on her team. Joy kept on reciting her "Joy Rules" and Rosé was trying her best to ignore her. Baekhyun keeps untying and tying his silk bandanna trying to get the perfect knot.
Rosé focused her attention on Jennie who was trying to read a map and explain her plan. Rosé did her best to suppress her smile. A month ago, she was in New York living her life and now she was surrounded by her college friends and Jennie. She felt like she was back at school, and no one had grown up. She loved it.
Jennie looked up from the huddle she and her teammates were in and instructed everyone to spread out and not get shot.
"That's it?" Joy did not seem impressed. "That's your plan? Spread out and don't get shot? What about strategy? Should we meet up in the woods somewhere for status reports? Should someone guard the perimeter?"
Jennie swallowed. She tried to remember every war book she had ever read and war movie she had ever seen. That didn't help at all. She glanced over at Rosé who was looking at her as if waiting for instructions.
"Umm...." Jennie looked at the map again and pointed to a location near the victory flag. "Here, if you're still paint-free, we meet here. OK?"
"You've never done this before, have you?" Daniel accused.
"Let her talk," Baekhyun said.
"Have you done this before?" Jisoo asked
"Shut it Kang! You too Lee!" Jennie folded her map and put it in her pocket. "OK, go away. Spread out and conquer in teams. Joy and Baekhyun. Jisoo and Daniel. Go!"
"Is this going to hurt?" Jisoo asked.
"Sure is!" Daniel was more than excited. "Come on! I want to do some serious damage!"
Her team disappeared into the woods and Jennie was left alone with Rosé.
"You've never played paintball, have you?" Rosé asked, looking beyond amused.
"I..." Jennie didn't even try to come up with an excuse. She let out a long breath. "No. I have no fucking clue what I'm doing."
Rosé couldn't suppress her laugh. "Then why did you suggest this? We could have done that dinner."
"You said a dinner would be boring." Jennie turned to leave, feeling embarrassed.
Rosé chuckled again and reached for Jennie. She turned her around and placed a kiss on her lips. "You're cute."
"I am not," Jennie pouted. She kissed Rosé back. "Can we just find some bush in the woods and make out instead of doing this paint thing."
"No." Rosé stepped back and adjusted her goggles. "We're going to do this and win. If you lead our team to victory, maybe I'll give you a special reward."
