Shiori's Pov
Early in the morning, the sun is yet to rise. We're at port Degarashi for the race. The people are all festive and excited for the race. There are fireworks everywhere
"Whoa, I had no idea it was such a big deal. So what kind of race is it anyway?" Naruto asks
"You know the kind with the start and a finish. Listen carefully and I'll explain" Sakura says
Shiori looks at me and takes the map from my hands
"Hey" I look at her
"Sorry, Shiori. Let me borrow this" Sakura says
"*Sigh* Sure, why not. You can ask permission after taking it" I say sarcastically
Sakura opens up the map
"The start is here, in the harbor of Degarashi, from here, the runners head for Modoroki Shrine" Sakura says
"That's the midpoint" I say
"They run over water?" Naruto asks
"No Naruto. The first leg of the race is done by boat" I answer
"Right. Anyway, the runners pick up the Ryuko Jewels from the Modoroki Shrine and the first one to get them to the Great Todoroki Shrine wins" Sakura says as she folds the map
"That's it as far as the basic rules go, but other than that, just about anything goes, shortcuts, dirty tricks, anything" I say
"Okay. So where are the ninja the other side hired?" Naruto asks
"They're keeping a low profile, but they're around" I answer
"So watch your step, okay Naruto?" Sakura says
"Yeah yeah" Naruto says in exasperation
"I don't care what you guys do but whatever happens, just stay away from me, even the pretty one" Idate says
"Say what?!" Naruto says angrily
"Oh please like Shiori wants to be near you" Sasuke says angrily
"*Giggle* He's so cute when he loses his cool when I'm involved" I smile
"Y-yeah well I'm sure Sasuke would do the same for me" Sakura says
"Dream on sister" I say back
We look at each other and glare
"Hmph" we turn our heads away from each other
"I've got a race to run, I don't want you in my way. And the pretty one is distracting too" Idate says
"Why you!" Naruto and Sasuke glares at him
"Come on, can't we just work together?" Sakura says to the boys
"No way, not with him/them!" they say as they point at each other
"Hmph" they turn away from each other like Sakura and I did
"Off to a good start" I say sarcastically
"Attention, attention. The Great Todoroki Shrine race is about to begin. Running for the Wasabi, Idate Morino" the announcer says over the speaker
The crowd applause and cheers
"Idate...Morino? Does the name sound familiar to you Shiori?" Sasuke asks in a whisper
