Me, Donna, and the Doctor have been waking in the snow for about 10 minutes now. I heard some sort of music. I looked up at the Doctor. "Hold on," I made Donna pause in her tracks. "can you guys hear that?" I asked. She took her hood off. "What?" she asked looking at me and the Doctor. "That noise is like a song. Over there." The doctor said beginning to walk over to the noise. I quickly ran after him as well as Donna. "Oh my god..." I put my hand over my mouth. "What is that?" Donna asked. "That's an Ood. He's called an Ood." I responded. Me and the Doctor crouched down beside him. "But it's face..." Donna said. The Doctor snapped, "Donna, don't. Its a he, not an it. Give me a hand." Donna's face was full of guilt. "Sorry."

"I don't know where the heart is. I don't know if he's got a heart." the Doctor looked up at Donna, "Talk to him, keep him going." the Doctor said. He was worried. Donna knelt down beside the Ood with us. "It's alright we've got you- er, whats your name?" The Ood used it's translator ball. "Designated Ood Delta 50." Donna picked up the translator ball and held it to her mouth. "My name's Donna." I grabbed the ball from her and put it back with Delta 50. "Nonono, you don't need to." I said. "Sorry. Oh, god. This is the Doctor and Juno. Just what you need, a doctor. Couldn't be better, ey?" she said. Her eyes full of worry. The Doctors eyebrows were furrowed. "You've been shot." he said to the Ood. "The circle." Delta 50 said. "No, don't try to talk." Delta 50 looked at the Doctor. "The circle must be broken. "

"Circle? What do you mean? Delta 50, what circle? Delta 50? What circle?" the Doctor said panicked. Delta 50 shot up with a roar. His eyes were red, then he exhaled and fell back down. Dead. "He's gone." Donna said. "Careful." the Doctor said to me as looked at Delta 50 closer. "We were too late." I said standing up. "What do we do, do we bury him?" Donna asked. "The snow will take care of that." I said. First adventure and I already saw something die. A tear rolled down my cheek. "Who was he? What's a Ood?" The doctor walked over to me and wiped the tear off my cheek. "They're servants of humans in the forty second century. Miley telepathic."

The Doctor turned to Donna. "That was the song. It was his mind calling out." Donna looked at the Doctor confused. "I couldn't hear anything. He sang as he was dying."

"Doctor, his eyes turned red." I said. Donna looked at me. "What does that mean?" she asked. "Trouble. Come on." He began starting to walk off. Me and Donna followed. "The Ood are harmless. They're completely benign. Except, the last time I met them, there was this force, like a stronger mind, powerful enough to take them over." I smiled, remembering the adventure he was talking about. "What sort of force?" Donna asked. "Oh, that's a long story." I responded.

"Long walk." she said back. "It was the devil." The Doctor said. "If you're going to take the mickey, I'll just put my hood back up." She said. "Must be something different this time, though. Something closer to home. Ah ha! Civilization." He said beginning to run towards the buildings.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Ood Sphere. And isn't it bracing? Here are your information packs, with vouchers, 3D tickets and a map of the complex. My name's Solana, Head of Marketing. I'm sure we've all spoken on the vidfone. Now, if you'd like to follow me." Solana said. The three of us joined the group of people. "Sorry, sorry, sorry. Late. Don't mind us. Hello. The guards let us through." the Doctor said. "And you would be?" Solana asked us. "The Doctor, Donna Nobel, and Juno." Donna spoke up, "Representing the Noble Corporation PLC Limited, Intergalactic." She said proudly. "Must have fallen off my list. My apologies. Won't happen again. Now then, Doctor Noble, Mrs Noble, ms Noble, if you'd like to come with me." My eyes widened at the woman's sentence. "Oh, nonononono. We're not married." the Doctor said gesturing towards Donna and him. "We're so not married." Donna added. "Never."
"Never ever."

Solana nodded slowly and looked at me and the Doctor. "Of course. And here are your information packs, vouchers inside. Now if you'd like to come with me, the Executive Suites are nice and warm." The sound of an alarm blared. "Oh what's that? That sure sounds like an alarm." I said with a grin. "Oh, it's just a siren for the end of the work shift. Now then, this way, quick as you can." The group followed her.

We made our way to the presentation area where three Oods stood on small platforms. There were a few others that were walking around with trays of beverages. "As you can see, the Ood are happy to serve, and we keep them in facilities of the highest standard. Here at the Double O, that's Ood Operations, we like to think of the Ood as our trusted friends." She began. I scoffed. "We don't just breed the Ood. We make them better. Because at heart, what is an Ood, but a reflection of us? If your Ood is happy, then you'll be happy, too." The Doctor rolled his eyes.

"I'd now like to point out a new innovation from Ood Operations. We've introduced a variety package with the Ood translator ball. You can now have the standard setting." she turned, "How are you today, Ood?" she asked one of the Oods. "I'm perfectly well, thank you." he responded. "Or perhaps after a stressful day, a little something for the gentlemen. And how are you, Ood?" She asked again. In a husky, female voice, a second Ood responded, "All the better for seeing you." Me and Donna looked at each other. 'that's disgusting!' she mouthed to me. 'absolutely!' I mouthed back. " And the comedy classic option. Ood, you dropped something." The third Ood looked down. "D'oh." he said in a Homer Simpson voice. The room was filled with laughter. I only chuckled nervously.

"All that for only five additional credits. The details are in your brochures. Now, there's plenty more food and drink, so don't hold back." She left the room. Me and the Doctor ran up to the lectern she used. He used it to access the big screen above. "Ah, got it. The Ood Sphere, I've been to this solar system before. Years ago. Ages. Close to the planet Sense Sphere. Let's widen out. The year 4126. That is the Second Great and Bountiful Human Empire." He said. I left his side and walked up to one of the Oods. I could hear Donna talking to the Doctor. "Um, excuse me," I tapped one of the Oods arms. He turned around to me. "Hi. Do tell me, are all of you like this?" I asked. "I do not understand, Miss." He tilted his head. The Doctor walked up beside me. "What I mean is, are there any free Ood? Are there Ood running wild somewhere, like..." I continued. "Like wildebeest." Donna added.

"All Ood are born to serve. Otherwise, we would die." the Ood responded. I frowned. "But you can't have started like that. Before the humans, what were you like?" Donna asked. "The circle." The Ood said. "What do you mean? What circle." The Doctor walked up to the Ood. "The circle. The circle is-" the Ood was cut off by Solana. "Ladies and gentlemen. All Ood to hospitality stations, please." The Doctor looked at me and Donna. "I've had enough of the schmoozing. Do you fancy going off the beaten track?" He smirked with a map of the complex in his hand.
