I woke up with searing hot pains splitting my sides.

Oh no. Not again.

I groaned under my breath and automatically clutched my lower stomach, bringing my knees to my chest in an attempt to stop the pain.

“I had a feeling they would come back,”

I sat up on the bed, flattened my hair and looked up at George looking as gorgeous as ever dark hair tousled, blue eyes searching.

“What time is it?” I mumbled, pressing my palms over my eyes and yawning. It was dim and gloomy outside.

“Half seven,” he said and got up from his chair to come and perch on the edge of the large bed next to me.

“Oh shit. I need to get ready–“ as soon as I pushed myself off the bed I slumped back and doubled over, hissing in pain.

“You’re not going to school today,” George commanded and lightly pressed my body back down onto the soft sheets.

“Yes I am, I need to go,” I protested and tried to sit up again but it was no use. Now he climbed on top of me, caging me underneath his body, blocking my exit. “George I need to go to school,”

“No way missy,” he stated before giving me a reassuring smile. “You were ill yesterday and you are ill now. You are not going to school,”

He had a point, I was in no fit state to work.

I huffed out in annoyance. “Fine, but can you take me home then. I need to make sure my brother and sister are okay,”

“You can call them from here,” he told me, blue eyes glimmering like stars. I could help but suddenly be transfixed by the light dancing in those cobalt orbs.

“No, I need to go home,” I objected with strain in my voice. “I need to make sure Anna hasn’t been found and has eaten,”

He looked taken aback slightly by my comment. “What do you mean? You haven’t told your family yet?”

“Of course not!” I cried but quickly hushed my voice. “If they find out they’ll just ask questions and tell my mum. If my mum finds out Anna’s on the streets,”

Understanding cleared his puzzled expression and he sank his weight further on me, resting his forehead on mine. The cramps seemed to disappear when he was near.

“Cassie, Anna may not be as intelligent as you but she’s not stupid. She’ll figure it out. How did you do it before?”

“I bring her food after we’ve all eaten and then in the morning she leaves before us for the bus and after school she waits five minutes so we can go home and then she comes in round the back. When I’ve been here she got up in the middle of the night and ate the dinner I left in the fridge,”

George nodded and smiled. “Then she’ll be fine,”

“But–“

“No buts,” he hushed and place one finger on my lips to seal them shut. “Now lie on your stomach,”

“Are you going to school?” I asked realising he was implying another one of those magical massages.

“No,”

“George, you have to go to school,” I opposed, crossing my arms over my chest. I ignored the soothing sensation I felt when he lifted my t-shirt up so he could rest his warm hands on my stomach like he did yesterday.
