“Happy Birthday Bunny!” I chirped, lying on top of my sister at seven o’clock on Saturday morning. It’s sounds harsh but I was excited for her.

“Cassie, pîss off,” she groaned and rolled over but that only made my body wait crush her more.

“Hey, since when do you swear?” I asked curiously, propping my head up on my elbows and looking at her dozing form. I should have been angry at her for being rude but she was my sister and she had that amazing hair that – just like my mother – could never let you be angry at her for too long. It was just so shiny and magical.

“Since you started waking me up way too early in the morning,” she retorted and covered her face with her duvet in protest.

I giggled and rapidly pulled them back allowing powerful beams of light to blind her.

“Cassie!” she screamed and used her thin arms to shield her eyes.

“Abi, come on. Just get up already. What’s even got into you, you’re always up early?” Harry questioned coming to lie down on her next to me.

“Yeah, what have you been doing to make you so tired?” I added thinking the same as my brother. Usually the situation would be reversed and I would be the one having two twins torturing me until I woke up.

“I don’t know…” she mumbled finally sitting up and rubbing her eyes with her palms. Her hair, although still glistening, was a mess and her pj top crinkled.

I glanced over to her bedside table and took in the evidence layed before me. A stack of books.

“How long did you stay up reading?” I interrogated with suspicious eyes and the demeanour of a detective.

She blushed and looked away. “I don’t know, maybe… one o’clock… two? Four at most,”

I gaped a picked up a book. “Is this shit actually really that good,” I turned the hardback over, observing the beautiful cover design and skimming the blurb. I didn’t read for pleasure, only if I had to for school.

“It’s addictive,” Abi finalised through a large yawn.

“Well as long as it isn’t Fifty Shades of Grey or some other romantic porno that you’re reading, carry on,” I stated with a smirk, climbing off her and instead snuggling down into her bed with her. Harry joined us with impatience.

“Okay, now you’re up can we open our presents?” Harry asked with frustration tinting his tone.

I raised my eyebrows in a mock motherly way. “Now, now, what happened to manners?”

“Pleeeaaassseee,” Both of them stretched out in that creepy twin-synchronised way. I gave them a cheeky smile.

“Who says you have presents?”

My siblings each pulled their own dissatisfied frown, their brown eyes flaring with anger.

“Cassie, please I know you bought us an IPod, I checked the colours that day in the supermarket,” Harry stated.

“Harry! You cheeky muppet, you spoiled the surprise!” I said in annoyance, I was at least hoping the colour would be a surprise for them.

Reluctantly, I pulled out two small boxes one wrapped in blue, one in pink from behind my back. There was also a bag of presents from Mum in my bedroom but I thought before breakfast they could open mine.

Rapidly, they each unravelled the paper like it held the last chocolate in the world before pulling out each a sparkly new Fifth Generation IPod Touch.
