Chapter 6 (Adoption Day)

No one's pov

So it's been about 2 weeks since the incident, Maddie did have to stay at an orphanage whole the adoption process worked out but she didn't care that much, she finally knew she was getting adopted so nothing could get her down. Plus Katie and the others in the cast had been so supportive, they visited her daily so they all knew the girl was safe, truth was they all kind of felt a little bit guilty for not noticing the signs that were clearly there.

Madeline had definitely came out of her shell alot more that's for sure, she was talking more but the one thing that made people really pleased was seeing her smile, once they saw her true smile they all couldn't help but feel happier themselves, her smile was one a kind, it was special, like her. Today was the day she never thought would happened, after so many years of being the foster kid, she was finally getting a proper home, she was getting a mom.

Madeline's pov

"Maddie, Katie and her friend's are here" I hear the head of the orphanage call out loudly from downstairs, I ran down like lightning and smiled widely as I saw Katie, she opened her arms out for me and so I leaped into them, she kissed my forehead "you ready?" she asked, I nodded my head but then I looked beside her and saw Calista standing there "oh, hey, I wasn't expecting to see you".

"Nice to see you too Maddie" She joked back at me, I chuckled a tiny bit "you know what I mean, it's normally Melissa or Chyler".She smiled and nodded "true but they had things to do so I thought I'd tag along", I smiled and tried to let the negative thought slide, I thought them two would have been there, they knew how much this day meant to me, but they didn't turn up. Katie must've noticed something was wrong but she didn't ask she just questioned "shall we get going then?".

Once we were all in Calista's car, I felt my stomach start to turn on the inside I groaned a little, too which caught the attention of the two women sat in the front "you better not puke in my car" Calista joked, Katie playfully punched her arm before turning to me "what's wrong?" she asked. I smiled a little and blushed in awkwardness "I don't know", she then smirked a little before making a suggestion "I think someone's nervous".

I laugh at her in denial "no, that's silly, why would I be nervous, I'm happy", she then smiled back at me and took a hold of my hand as she leaned forward, closer to me "you can be happy and nervous, I'm feeling the same too, today is a big deal, it's special and is going to be the best day of our lives". I then blush a little more "yea, your right, I can't wait", Calista then spoke up but kept her eyes on the road "we all can't wait, it's exciting news for us all".

When were at the court, Katie took hold of my hand and so the two of us walked into the court room holding hands, I gave her a smile before we walked in. When I did though I saw everyone, Melissa, Chyler, Jeremy, they were all there. I shot Katie and Calista a look, Katie then smirked "you really thought they'd let you down?", I smiled and hugged her and I also gave Calista a hug also "thanks for driving us" I said kindly, she nodded back at me.

"Please stand" we all heard and so that's what we all did and then when we got the ok to sit we all did that too, the judge then turned to me and proceeded to talk "so we are here today about Madeline May O'connor and Katherine Elizabeth Mcgrath, does anyone have any reasons why this adoption can't go ahead?", there was no answer, I smiled. He then continued "so it is clear that you haven't had a easy life Madeline, being passed around all the time, what makes this person any different?".

I look around the room kinda confused but then looked back at the Judge and answered truthfully "well, erm, Katie and everyone in the set have been there for me, I probably wouldn't even be alive if it wasn't for them, in the time of me being in contact with them, I've been much happier, even while I was back in the orphanage, I finally feel loved, for the first time in a while, I want nothing more than to be a part of Katie's life, officially".

He then nods and turns to Katie "and do you see any reason why you shouldn't adopt Madeline here, how have you been feeling since she's been back at the orphanage, so you realise that adoption is official, I'd love to say there is no going back but unfortunately there is, I want to avoid anything like that happening so you have to ask yourself, are you ready to be a mom? to a teenage girl, because that's who she will be soon".

Katie then nods her head proudly and smiles without hesitation "I appreciate what you are trying to say but I can honestly say I don't have any concerns, since she has been back at the orphanage I constantly felt worried about her safety, she's a smart girl but I know she hasn't had a good life and so when I wasn't there, I felt helpless, I know that will change when she is with me, I can finally be what she needs, I can be her mother, a good one too".

The judge then smiles and then looks at me and Katie before slamming his hammer down "well I see no reason why this can't go ahead, Madeline, you are now part of the Mcgrath family, your new name is Madeline May Mcgrath, I wish you all the best in your future, both of you, good day". Then the whole room filled with cheering and applause, I looked back at Katie in so much happiness.

"Do I get a hug or not?" Katie joked, I ran to her and jumped into her arms "it really happened, I'm finally adopted, I'm no longer an orphan", I suddenly heard a another voice I recognised, it was Melissa "does this mean I'm officially the crazy aunt now?". Then for the first time in a very long time I burst out into laughter, gaining the looks of everyone in the room.

No one's pov

Everyone was so emotional with the news, they were all happy of course, but they couldn't help but cry too, something so sweet had happened, it had brought them all together, the cast was one big family. Especially now Maddie was officially a Mcgrath, when they heard her laugh, it  shocked them, they wasn't expecting to see that so soon, but when they did, they realised everything would be ok, because they would all be there for her, through the ups and downs,it was clear to say they loved her.
