Chapter 16 (13 Candles)

Katie's pov

It was Maddie's birthday today, she was 13, officially a teenager, I'm so glad I was fortunate to adopt such a girl, she really is something special. Today is going to be a good day, I'm going to make this a birthday she will never forget, after all she has been through she deserves a decent birthday. Me and everyone on the set have been planning this for a month, I know it's not her sweet sixteen but it's the first birthday with her.

Chyler has been a massive help, having 3 kids and all, she really knows how to sort a birthday party out, even David has surprised me. We have spoke with the director and he's letting the party happen on set, we have it all planned out, nothing could ruin this moment, we won't let it happen. "Hey babe, you ready for today?" I hear from behind me, as i turned around I also smiled for I knew who had spoke, my beautiful girlfriend.

"I sure am, today is going to be the best day of her life" I say proudly, Melissa then smiled back at me as she tucked a bit of my hair behind my ear and kissed me passionately "I don't think it could be the best day", I look at her confused but she then smiles again before adding to her comment "nothing could compare to the day she became yours silly, the day you became her mom was the best day of her life and you know it, everyone knows it".

I kiss her back and wrap my arms around her "you always know what to say, God I love you, how was I this lucky to get such gorgeous girls in my life". Melissa then places her hand on the side of my face and looks me in the eyes warmly "it is us who is lucky, to be in the presence of such a beauty is a true gift", I find myself blushing "I never thought you could be so romantic with your choice of words". She then smirks in a flirty way back at me "believe me, there is so much more for you to see".

Madeline's pov

1 hour later

"SURPRISE" I suddenly heard as I walked onto the set with mom and Melissa, as I looked around the room I was shocked to see absolutely everyone on the set but also more. David's daughters were there Calista was there with her boy also , aswell as Chylers kids, I smiled when I saw Noah and ran over to him "you knew about this?" I asked, he nodded "I won't spoil a surprise". After being introduced to all the kids in the room, we all started to play a bit of tag and a few other games.

"Time for cake" mom then called out, just like that everyone and I mean everyone was on there feet and running to the table which made me laugh and a few others "Now now, I know we all like a slice of cake but the birthday girl must have the first" Chyler announces too which people nod in agreement, I then laugh "as birthday girl I order that all us kids get slices first". After we all had eaten are cake me and Noah went outside to play in the sun.

"This has been epic, best birthday I've ever had" I said wearing a huge smile, Noah nodded and replied "I can understand that, plus my mom was a big help and she is like a total genius when it comes to planning a party! That I can guarantee". I smiled and hugged him "you don't need too, I can tell", Noah then looks at me in the eyes and smiles as he says something rather warmly, more than he usually spoke atleast "my mom looks at you like family, like I do, come of it we're practically cousin's".

I laugh a little as does he "definitely cousin's, Chyler is like the best aunt ever also" he then jokes "same goes for Katie", we then both laugh yet again until I suggest "how about me play some basketball?" he nods his head before passing me the ball and we both go running and jumping round like kangaroos in Australia. Me and Noah were full of energy, that cake definitely had sugar in it!

"Whoop whoop, she shoots she scores" I boast as I run around in a circle, Noah laughs and starts to chase me, I then joke "ahh, back to tag are we", he continued to chase me as we ran around the parking lot of the set but I suddenly find myself on the floor after tripping over a rock. "Maddie, are you okay?" Noah asks, genuinely concerned I smile "I'm fine it's just a scratch" he smiles at me and rolls his eyes also "brave as ever".

As he gave me my hand to get up we were suddenly interrupted by a horrible noise coming out way, we both turned to look and what we saw shocked us terribly, it was a car coming our way ever so quickly. It was out of control, the wheels practically sliding across the road, swerving side to side, Noah then went to grab my hand to pull me up but it was too late, the car came crashing into me, full speed "Madddddiiiiee Nooooooo" Noah screamed out.

Noah's pov

I couldn't believe it, Maddie was now on the floor, blood just gushing out like a river, the car had gone up in smoke, I wanted to help, really I did but for some reason I couldn't, I found myself standing there like a statue just staring, just watching. "Nooaahhh" I heard my mom call out, I turned around and faced her, I wanted nothing more than to speak to her but no words came out "he's in shock, Jeremy call 911, nobody move Maddie she could've broken something" I saw my mom say then just like that I suddenly fell into her arms as she caught me.
