Chapter 39

It turns out Cara will be staying with us for a few days. I don't even know exactly how much but I want her gone already. Stefan said her house is being renovated so she wanted to stay here and also because she is being paranoid that someone is out there to hurt her.

The cops did told her that it might be a thief who didn't got the chance to even get inside because they didn't find any evidence about an intruder in her house. The bigger question is, how the fire has actually started if it was not an arson?

"So you think she lied about the incident?", Leo asks while patting Liam's back. "Wow took you days to figure it out."

"Come on Leo", I whine. "Don't make me look dumb. You did saw Stefan's state the other night he brought her and she looked pretty shaken as well."

"She's doing all this for Stefan B", he adds without any doubt in his voice. "Watch me be right again."

"What should I do then Leo?", I sigh. Honestly, I'm getting tired of her. Whenever Stefan tries to spend time with me, she just appears out of nowhere.

"Have you talk to Stefan about this?"

"I don't want to look clingy Leo", I admit. "He knows Cara way before me. She's been his friend for such a long time and I don't want to ruin their friendship."

"You don't want to ruin their friendship but she sure does wants to ruin your relationship", he tells me hotly. "And that's sounds good, doesn't it?"

I'm about to speak when Cara knocks at the nursery's door. Leo throws a harsh glare at her and she recoils back slightly. Well he can be pretty scary when he wants to be.

"Is everything alright Cara?", I ask politely.

"I hope I didn't disturb you two", she says in an apologetic tone. "Is Liam awake? Can I take him for a few minutes?"

"He is awake", Leo states. "But I don't feel like giving him to you plus he doesn't like you. Haven't you seen how much he cries with you? Babies senses bad aura...."

"Leo!", I scold him with a glare. "Stop it. I'm sorry Cara but he just woke up and I don't want him to cry. Maybe later you can take him."

"That's fine", she mutters in a low tone and questions excitedly further. "When is Stefan going to be home? Did he called?"

"EXCUSE ME?!", Leo snaps. "Last time I checked, Stefan was my best friend's man and still is, so why are you trying to act like you are his girlfriend?"

"Oh no. Don't get me wrong Leo", Cara defends herself quickly. "I was just asking because I wanted to tell him about the phone call from the police station."

She excuses herself quickly afterwards while Leo and I share a look.

"Do not look at me like that", he utters immediately. "I don't like her."

"She's a guest and a friend of Stefan Leo", I explain. "Maybe we are thinking too much about it and there's nothing going on about Stefan in her mind."

"Liam", Leo glares at me then look at him. "Why is your mom so dumb? She's making me go insane! Jess, why are you always so nice to everybody?"

"Did you forget about the incident with Ana? You were nice to her but she tried to hurt you and Liam. Stefan scolded you so much afterwards."

Of course. How can I forget that? Stefan was so furious with me. I made a mistake once but not again. I will do my best to protect Liam and Stefan from any harm.

"I'm sorry to make you remember all of that again B", he apologizes. "I just want to tell you not everyone has good intentions because they look sweet and definitely not Cara. Tell me why the hell was she excited when she was inquiring about Stefan? She is definitely up to something. My gut feeling never lies to me."
