Ohio, Spring/Summer 2014

If you thought coming up with a plausible identity was easy, you were very wrong.

To be sure, it was child's play for Emilia to hack into Hydra's system. She wanted to infiltrate it, and their technology wasn't exactly up to date. But they were not to be underestimated.

All this time she tried to get access to the file of one particular Winter Soldier. Besides only a few other things, it was the only she hadn't been able to get her hands on.

Even her hacking skills couldn't find anything on the unknown man. Perhaps there were no digital records on him. Therefore, she refocused on what was accessible to her.

She racked her brain for a believable story to build up her cover so that no one would have the slightest doubt either.

An already deceased Hydra agent whose name and story she could easily use turned out to be a stroke of luck. His family was no longer alive, but it was known that he still had a distant relative who was a doctor.

Even if the age didn't quite match, there was at least a rudimentary resemblance in older pictures.

So Emilia now walked the halls under the name Dr. Sophie Thompson. She was responsible for checking the physical characteristics of the "test subjects" of the latest generation of Winter Soldiers.

Hydra had further developed a part of Howard Stark's super soldier serum itself. Therefore, even now, they were able to create more super soldiers without anyone knowing.

When Emilia first came into contact with one of them, she had only been in the building disguised as a bank on East 9th Street in Cleveland for a few weeks.

The trail led her to Ohio. There she rented a small apartment and worked day and night to destroy the organization from within.

She asked Matthew not to say a word about it. Especially not to anyone at SHIELD.

Also, she had completely cut off contact with Steve and Bruce so as not to put anyone in danger if things went wrong.

So far, however, everything was going according to plan.

Records showed that all the soldiers had volunteered. The latest program involved four test objects. These had already been injected with the serum.

This meant that she had to try to eliminate these fighting machines as inconspicuously as possible.

By eliminating them, she meant killing them. Emilia was convinced that these subjects had no human spark left in them.

How could they, if one volunteered for such an experiment to kill or torture people.

"No matter what happens: as long as there is a spark of good in a person, you should never lose hope."

Her father's words echoed in her head.

'No one at Hydra can have even a My good in them...' she thougt to herself.

Now, as she stood in front of the outdated hospital bed and turned to face the soldier with the number A3675, she already knew what she was going to do.

For a few minutes she watched the monitor, noting something in the chart in front of her after checking blood pressure and pulse

The dim light in the former small vault with the many lockers was not exactly suitable for any medical examination.
