After Sam had pulled the truck off the scaffolding and therefore also rescued the last hostages, they now followed Karli and the remaining Flag Smashers through the tunnels under the city streets.

Sharon had also already arrived on the scene. However, it was not clear to the others that she was already on her way to Karli. When Bucky tried to inform them, contact broke off over the comm.

Thanks to the thermal imaging function of his goggles, Sam was able to follow the tracks. It was part of his new suit. Emilia couldn't help but wonder what else Shuri had built into it.

"They split up."

"Then we should separate."

Walker glanced around the small group. When his gaze fell on Emilia, her eyes flashed dangerously at him.

"I'm going with Sam."

She didn't want to be involved with him. Even if he was joining the right side for the moment and seemed to regret his actions. His presence still troubled her.

Bucky saw how tense she looked. He walked up to her, clasped her wrist and stared deep into her eyes.

"Promise me you'll keep your feet still and you won't think of any stupid ideas."

He was reluctant to part with her. But he knew she was in good hands around Sam.

Like a small child, Emilia rolled her eyes with a sigh before looking back into his.

The determination in the blue in them literally swallowed her. She sensed he was serious.

His fingers still around her hand and his gaze firmly sunk into her amber doe eyes, he tightened his grip. Until, from her imperceptibly smiling mouth, he heard the assurance he needed.

"At your command, Sergeant."

It surprised not only Sam to find Sharon injured on the ground.

While Emilia tried to get her out of the ensuing confrontation between him and Karli as far as she could to safety, she wondered, secretly, what Sharon had to do with her.

The sudden fact that she was the ominous Power Broker explained a lot all at once.

"That's a pretty good masquerade you've built up there, Blondie. Was it all worth it?"

Sharon didn't answer her and, with an arm around her shoulder, let Emilia drag her further out a small hallway.

"Serves you right. You would deserve even more for all you've done."

Blood dripped from the bullet wound, leaving a small trail.

"Ungh... you can spare me your preaching, Velvet. I'm not the only one with skeletons in my closet."

Grunting, Sharon lowered herself onto the small pedestal of a steel column and pressed her crumpled jacket to her stomach.

With a deprecating look, Emilia regarded her for a moment.

"You may not be entirely wrong about that. But at least I'm on the right side."

The short flicker in Sharon's eyes sent a cold shiver down her spine.

"Are you really so sure about that?"

Everything in Emilia tensed. She knew exactly what the cool blonde was trying to tell her, but she didn't let on. Her question went unanswered as she turned to leave.
