The large palace hall was breathtakingly decorated. Ramonda, with Shuri's help, found the perfect touch.

Not too pompous like the many usual celebrations in Wakanda, but still festive and also a bit familiar appropriate to the occasion.

Everything was kept in plain white mixed with a dark anthracite and soft, pastel green shades. Since neither Emilia nor Bucky knew yet what gender their baby was, this color was just right for both of them - not only for the baby's bedroom.

So far, she had no premonition in this regard and hoped it stayed that way. They both decided to let themselves simply be surprised. All that mattered was that it arrived safe and sound.

"But honestly, I'm wondering why you didn't get pregnant a lot sooner. I mean as often as you two ..."

Lucy punctuated her innuendo with a definite wink and rather primitive whistling sounds. This was a side of her new friend that, for Emilia, didn't quite fit with her actually highly respectable style.

And even if she now considered her statement with an embarrassed eye roll, she liked her direct manner a lot.

"What? It's true. Almost every time I pass by your door it's like being on live. I wish someone would say that passing my front door..."

While Sarah and Shuri could only agree with her, Emilia was already thinking about something, as she often did.

Lucy, after all, had a point. It was almost like a mystery.

Neither she nor Bucky wanted to risk being blindsided again. Especially since no one knew the consequences of a formerly schizophrenic irradiated botanist and a World War II veteran pumped up with super serum creating a child. They hadn't really talked about kids until then either.

Nevertheless, already during their time in Madripoor it happened again and again that both of them didn't thought about contraception in the heat of the moment.

How the ever-growing creature in her belly developed and whether it had any abilities that no one knew about, they would find out in the not too far future. But until then, the wedding would take place, followed by a few weeks of waiting, being very pregnant.

A little over six years and eight months.

It had been that long since Emilia got pregnant from Bucky for the first time.

She still thought about the unborn baby they lost. And every now and then she wondered what if? In the last weeks more often than ever before.

In her mind, Bucky's smile suddenly appeared on the face of a little boy in front of her. He was running around the great hall with Morgan and some of the other children, playing catch loudly and unflinchingly.

From under the table with the wedding cake and some other goodies on one of the long sides of the huge room, a girl's dark hair suddenly peeked out. She was hiding. It seemed like all the people were just annoying her. Her bright blue eyes looked at them grimly and a little miffed.

They had the exact same fleeting gray in them as her father's.

Emilia didn't notice how she had drifted further and further into a beautiful yet exceedingly wistful daydream. Two silent tears ran down her cheeks as she slowly said goodbye to it.

"Mia? Hey, little dimple... What's wrong?"

Bucky suddenly knelt in front of her, quite concerned, and snapped her out of her thoughts. He had gotten rid of his jacket and rolled the sleeves up over his forearms, which were now hanging down the sides of her legs as he reached his hands for hers on top of them.
