Philippine Sea
USS Nimitz
Day 96

It was an awesome sight under the the slowly rising sun from the flight deck. Not just the modern aircraft carrier and her escorts occupied the sea. It was a massive task force reminiscent of the Second World War.

Two hundred yards off the bow was the battleship New Jersey. Of the ship girls revived with cubes, the Iowa class was probably the easiest to find when every ship was still afloat, though regulated to homeland defense until now. It was tougher to find the two battleships on the flanks. Yamato and Musashi. Behind the Nimitz was a close formation of Enterprise and her sisters, the foxes, and then the amphibious force. The Wasp, the Iwo Jima and the America were the amphibious assault ships in question.

Surrounding the fleet as escorts were more cruisers and destroyers than you could care to count. World War II destroyers chugged along modern guided missile destroyers. Coming with the assault ships, the Zumwalt class destroyer Michael Monsoor could rival the battleships in size.
