Let's move to 2017 now. Last year was no less than a miracle for Virat. But Virat never believes to live in past. New year, you have to start again and show again why you've got all what you have. Indians, every Indian wheather Virat fan, Rohit fan or who so ever's fan used to love M.S. Dhoni our legend and the sharpest mind to ever play cricket. His tactics were (Well, he retired on 15th August 2020) so freaking awesome that he could work done from even the player who's in the worst form of his life. But one thing that no one liked in him was his habit of giving us shockers when we're not ready. He again did such a thing in January 2017. He suddenly stepped down as the captain of all formats and a beautiful era of Indian Cricket ended. This also meant that Kohli was the leader of the pack in all 3 formats now. He had already revamped the test team, from no. 7 when Dhoni left to now no. 1 in 2017. Now he was the leader in ODI and T20Is too and he already had a vision for the team. How would he not have? Dhoni doesn't trust anyone just like that, believe me. And he started with a bang both as a batsman and a captain. Made a 122 in his captaincy debut and won the series and series after series. He made winning outside India a habit which was before a miracle. But sometimes, people can't digest your success. Kohli was sacked as the ODI captain in 2022 with a win percentage of 70% in ODI, losing only 2 series amongst all he played and then he resigned as Test and T20I captain too with records that any captain would be proud of. Unfortunately, he met with a wrong fate at his captaincy saga. BCCI (Board for Control of Cricket in India) planned and removed him. The BCCI started regretting it from the next moment. India lost to a weak South Africa 3-0 whitewashed. Although, he was a great captain, he couldn't win an ICC trophy but his stats speak. Few lines on him-
Leadership is not only about trophies.
It is about how you carried the team over years.
Leadership is about how next generation players look up to you as an icon.
Leadership is about the impact you have had on the game over years.
An absolute superstar,
A true ambassador of the game,
That is what a good leader is.
A leader is born to look around and say:
Hey! I own this place

Thank you Skipper.
Oh captain! My captain!
