The year 2020 wasn't good for Virat from the bat, but this year in December ICC were to give the awards for the decade of 2011-2020 and Indians rocked those awards. This decade saw the Rise, the Fall and the Rise and Rule of King Kohli. He was the first ever batsman in the history of the cricket to score 20,000+ runs in a decade including all formats. Although, this was extraordinary but I don't know why it seemed very obvious that he has done it. That's the standard he's set for himself.Coming to the award ceremony, the most precious award is Sir Gary Sobers Trophy which means ICC Cricketer of the Decade and Virat bagged it. He also bagged up ICC ODI Player of the Decade. Two of the most precious awards fell in Virat's bag. Then, when ICC announced the ICC Test team, ODI Team and T20I team of the decade, there was only one constant that was Mr. Virat Kohli. He was the only player to feature in all 3 teams of the Decade. Icing on the cake was that he was the captain in ICC Test Team of the Decade. This made us prouder of Virat as if we were not before. Truly, if you see from unbiased eyes you'll admit it that cricketers like this, are born once in a generation. The other ICC Decade Awards winners were
ICC Player of the Decade- Virat Kohli (India)
ICC Test Player of the Decade- Steve Smith (Australia)
ICC T20I Player of the Decade - Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)
ICC Spirit of Cricket - M.S. Dhoni (India)
ICC Associate Player of the Decade - Paul Stirling (Ireland)In women's category there were 3 awards ICC Player of the Decade, ICC ODI Player of the Decade and ICC T20I Player of the Decade because test matches happens once in a while and all were sweeper by Ellyse Perry of Australia. She's an amazing all rounder, need to check on her.
Well, Indians got 3 awards and captaincy of all 3 teams of decade. MS Dhoni for ODI and T20Is arguably the best and Virat for Test again arguably the best. We were proud on that day and it was a happy December, 2020 with at least some positivity for us. Thanks to our Fab cricketers who made us proud.
