Mouse is ok, she's had scans and x rays and all sorts, shes just very shaken up. She's had scans and bloods for baby, but we're still waiting for the results, which surely can't be good as we've been waiting well over an hour now

It felt like an eternity had passed whilst the Mounts sat in the hospital room. Maeve remained in her assigned bed, still strapped to heart monitors and pain relief drips. Mason had squeezed his way into the bed too, his arm tightly around her and his other balancing against her bump. He rested his cheek on her head, their breathing falling in sync as they lay in silence.
"Mr and Mrs Mount?" Eventually, a voice entered the room as the door clicked shut. Both of them attempted to smile, turning to face the woman.
"Lovely to meet you both, my name is nurse Elisa and I've been working closely with the doctors, consultants and midwives on your reports." She began, sitting down on the seat where Mason had previously been sat and setting the clip board down on her lap, before moving her high ponytail of red braids behind her shoulders.
"Do you know if he's ok?" Mason immediately chipped in, trying to appear polite but also panicking slightly.
"We have ran numerous tests and scans, and from what we can see, you have been very lucky. There is no severe damage that we can find, and baby's heart beat is still regular and prominent," she smiled warmly. Mason and Maeve both gasped in sheer delight, wrapping their arms tightly around eachother.
"But we can see a lot of internal bruising, which may cause a swelling that could interfere with the protective layer around baby. So it is critical you are extremely careful over the coming few weeks, any even minor bumps or knocks and you must come straight back. If the protective layer is to burst, effectively he will need to come out immediately." The nurse continued with a nod. It was a slight shock to the couple, who now felt rather on edge, but the main thing was they were safe. Their baby was alive, he was going to be ok. Maeve was ok, and this chain led to Mason feeling wonderful once again.

It was early hours the following morning when the couple were finally discharged from the hospital. Although having only stayed one night, it felt like years. Years of hell, years of fear, years of dread.
"Are you ok?" Maeve asked Mason, linking his arm as they walked towards the car.
"Baby, I'm so glad you're ok. I'm so glad you're both ok, but I still can't help but feel guilty. That was my psycho ex that did this to you, and I don't trust her to not interfere with our lives again," he sighed, as they approached his black Mercedes.
"Let's not worry about her right now, I've thought about it, and I do want to press charges. Then she'll be out of our way, and away from any other harm she could inflict on anyone. But for now, let's just focus on the positives. The three of us are healthy, that's the main thing," she placed a gentle kiss on his cheek, climbing into the passenger seat as he rested his hands against the steering wheel with a small smile on his face.
