85. New Ruler

Dream POV

I stand in Eret's throne room, staring at the throne.

If they don't allow me to rule the Smp, that's fine. Eret will make a great king of the Greater Dream Smp but he can't regulate the peace throughout the rest of the "factions", even though they're dissolved.

"Hey Dream" Eret rounds the corner and sees me.

"Hey Eret" I smile.

"You ready?" He's dressed in his usual kingly attire, expensive looking red robes, gold crown, and dark sunglasses.

"As ready as I can. What if they don't want me to rule? What if they just think I'll be a tyrant?"

"They can at least give you a chance" Eret reassures. "And I want to step down anyways, I know nothing about ruling, you do. I would rather spend time working on builds, especially, my museum"

"Hm, well you're welcome to live here at the castle"

"That's a very kind offer, but I want to stay away from politics for now. I'll visit from time to time though"

"Alright, if you're sure"

Eret turns and wakes up the stairs. I follow nervously behind him.

"Hey Dream" I hear Y/N call me name. It immediately puts a smile on my face and I turn around.

"Hey love" I grab her by her waist and kiss her.

"Ready?" She asks.

"No,"

"Just be yourself and speak the truth" she smiles. "Don't forget to take off your mask"

"I won't" I smile nervously.

"Dream, they're all waiting" Eret beckons for me to follow him onto the balcony.

"Good luck" Y/N says before running down the stairs.

I step onto the balcony and the crowd cheers.

Down, in the courtyard of the castle are all the citizens of the Smp. I watch Y/N quietly slip into place next to Philza.

"Citizens of the Smp" Eret begins. I feel my palms begin to swear under my leather gloves. "I'm here to inform you that I will be stepping down from my position as king of the Greater Dream Smp. It does not fit me and I would rather concentrate on other things. However, there is someone else that has the skills and qualities of a true ruler"

Eret gestures to me and steps aside. I walk next to him, my heart beating heavily. I pull off my mask and clip it onto my belt.

Eret moves to stand and the back and gives me a thumbs up.

I lean over the balcony's edge and scan the crowd, my eyes meet Y/N's and she gives me a reassuring smile.

"So, I want to bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to the Smp. I understand that the past leaders have not been the best but I would like to rule the Smp as a whole. To unite the people and bring everlasting peace throughout the lands. I promise to serve for the greater and good and if I become tyrannical, you have the full right to overthrow me. I only wish the best for the Smp"

My eyes meet Y/N's again. She smiles and it's immediately followed by rapturous applause.

"I think we should do it, right here right now" Eret walks over, taking the crown off his head.

"Woah, woah, isn't this a little soon?" I ask.

"No, the faster your crowned, the faster you can set this Smp on the path for success"

"Uh okay" I bow my head hesitantly and Eret places his crown on my head.

I turn back to the balcony and face the crowd which cheers and claps.

"That was fast" Y/N says after we're down in the throne room. I've already replaced several of the decorations to green ones.

"Yeah, I wasn't expecting Eret to do that," I pause. "He must really want to step down"

"Well he never truly wanted to rule, just reap the benefits. Ruling can be hard work"

"I know, I hope that I can rule well"

"I'm sure you'll be amazing" Y/N smiles at me. "You have natural leadership qualities"

"I hope so" I stare at the new banners already added.

"So now that you're king, doesn't that mean I have to bow to you?"

"No I love you, you can just walk up to me"

"I'll push you" she giggles and lightly shoves me.

"No you won't" I laugh and push her back.

"What are your ideas?" She asks placing a hand on my neck and gently letting it float down my chest.

"I want to bring the people closer by helping them set up permanent living structures close to the castle"

"Hm, what if they want to live far out like me?" She asks.

"I don't know, I guess they could stay there but come into the kingdom often" I hadn't really thought about that.

"Dream you have a lot of learn, things are easier said than done"

"Yeah, but I wanted to at least secure the power so I could help them"

"That's true, and I think you did the right thing"

"I think you also did the right things by killing DreamXD"

"By the way, how did you know about his other motives?" I ask. "About Jean, his childhood friend, and how the Death Book was his only weakness"

"I read through a book and found q note, I decided to visit the End to look for clues. I found the Ender Dragon but realized it was actually Jean. I talked to her and she told me the truth, about her and XD, about how people have tried to kill her in the past."

"I did," I stare at the floor. "Sapnap, George, and I made a game about it. I had to get to the End and kill the Ender Dragon while they tried to stop me. We attempted many times before the portal was sealed for good.
We called it Manhunt"

(In this video, two of my friends try and hunt me down and stop me from beating Minecraft.)

"Sounds eventful, but it's sad to know that she was unhappy and couldn't ask for help since everyone she met tried to kill her"

"Yeah, if you ever see her again, tell her I'm sorry for trying to kill her all the time"

"If I do, I'll tell her" Y/N gives me a kiss. "I'm going to head back to the base"

"Alright, come back to visit me tomorrow love" I watch her disappear into the forest.

This feels right.
In control, in power, I just can't let it get to my head. I've felt the corruption of power and I won't let it happened again. I hope Y/N will rule with me, I'll need someone by my side to help.

Sorry this was a filler chapter and was kinda rushed since I have a Spanish test tomorrow and I suck at foreign languages 😩
