It's been about a week since the incident with my so-called poor excuse of a father randomly waltzing back into our lives I haven't told anybody about it and I haven't talked to dave or my mother about it either what was there to say anyways but recite everything my father admitted I didn't feel like going through that again but I knew I would have to eventually but id do it when I was ready

I was grateful that Jennifer didn't pressure me to talk about what exactly it was that happened and I loved that, I hated when people tried to pry into my business and Jennifer knew this if I didn't let you know what was up it meant I wanted you to stay out of the business that didn't pay you and she felt the same way if I wanted to talk about it soon eventually she'd let me but for now I just needed myself only

As for hunter he left for a month-long business trip with heath 3 days ago which also meant he'd probably be missing my birthday but I didn't really care though I wasn't as enthusiastic about my birthday this year as I should be but if I was being honest with myself i stopped getting excited for my birthday when I turned 16 I don't know what it was birthdays for me just didn't hit the same anymore

Plus I hardly expected that hunter even knew when my birthday was seeing as I never told him so how could he know but I was grateful that hunter did call me every day the past three days that he hadn't been here it wasn't the same but it was something although I missed his comfort business was business

"Heaven, baby you're on table 3" I was snapped out of my thoughts by my boss Terri slapping her hand against the table in front of me 2 times

"sorry Terri" I muttered making my way over to the table to start cleaning the mess the people who'd previously occupied it left

I rolled my eyes thinking of those loud rowdy teenage boys thankfully they'd been kicked out because they thought it'd be a good idea to start a food fight that had ended up hitting an old lady behind them they left quite the mess for people to clean up after them

I know it was my job and all to basically serve and clean but like there was something I'm sure was called basic home training and if their parents or guardians couldn't teach them that at home I'm pretty sure they shouldn't have been stepping out without a chaperone to being with

Damn jerks!

I finished cleaning the floor and the tables when I was called to start serving another table after that I'd be on my 15-minute break thankfully

I finished what I had to do pretty quick and started my break I didn't bother taking my apron off though seeing as I wasn't going anywhere I had nowhere to go really id probably just sit at one of the back tables in the far end and just start chilling on my phone

And that was exactly what I did

I'd been five minutes into my break when I felt the presence of someone else in front of me I didn't bother looking up seeing as I didn't really talk to any of my co-workers and even if I wanted to I wasn't really in the mood right now but it didn't seem as though the person had gotten the hint when I saw that they had started to unpack their lunch in front of me

I looked up to see the person was already looking at me with a friendly smile on his face I recognized him as someone I had seen around but never actually talked to well until now I guess I gave a slight smile back not wanting to come off as rude but enough to know that I wasn't looking for any company at the moment

But that had seemed to go over his head or he didn't understand I chose to believe it went over his head "I'm Kevin" he introduced himself outstretching his hands towards me

I took it and shook it "heaven" I nodded

"I-i've just well you've just been working here for a couple of months now and I realize that you never really talk to anybody so I just thought I'd introduce myself to you maybe get rid of the icebreaker"

"Oh" was all I said I didn't really know what else to say really what was I supposed to get to talking about the weather?r I was never really good at meeting new people it was an anxiety thing I didn't talk to anybody unless they talked to me or I was comfortable around them but even then if I met someone new and they wanted to get to know me I never knew how to get a conversation started

"I-i think you're really pretty" he complimented me I found the red that had taken over his face to be adorable I couldn't help but to let out a little chuckle myself

"Thank you," I said looking down at the table awkwardly

"Soo whatcha eating then?" I said deciding to set my phone down on the table

"It's just a ham sandwich my grandmother made me" he shrugged uninterested "would you like a half?"

"Oh no thank you it's fine I already had a big breakfast this morning" I lied straight through my teeth maybe I could have just said that I wasn't hungry but like I didn't want him to insist that I have a half piece of his sandwich people often tended to do that i just didn't want to bother with it

"This conversation somehow turned out way more awkward than I intended it to be so I'm just gonna get straight to the point. What's your deal around here?"

That took a turn "excuse me?"

Again I witnessed his face go red again "oh my I'm so sorry I hadn't meant it like that what I meant was that like what's your story? I've never seen you around this town until you started working here I just wanted to know if you just moved here is all"

"Ohhh okay, I didn't move. I've lived around here pretty much my whole life. I just left for a while for college but I'm back now so..."

"Oh, that explains it sorry if it feels like I'm prying in your business and all I just wanted to make a new frie–"

His phone ringing had cut him off he pulled his phone out of his pocket and looked at the caller id he blushed once again when he looked at his phone

"Sorry it's my boyfriend"

"That's alright my break is over in a minute and all I might as well just get started back on my shift again," I said getting up from the booth

"I'll see you around Kevin" I smiled walking away

He's a nice guy

Adorable

I could see a friendship in my head forming with him already he was truly nice and it seemed as it took him a lot of courage to even come up and talk to me so I didn't see any harm in getting to know him a bit more

I walked up to the front to begin taking orders again I grabbed my notepad book that I used for the diner then made my way over a table that had only one person occupying it

"May I take your order?" I asked preparing to jot down any notes on my notepad but when the person didn't speak I looked at them only to find them staring at me in curiosity

I wasn't even gonna lie I was starting to feel a bit uncomfortable

"Umm....ma'am?" I asked trying to break them out of their gaze but when that didn't work I figured snapping in their face would have done just the trick

And lucky for me it did

"Oh god i-i am so sorry your just more beautiful than I had imagined you to be," the woman said smiling up at me eagerly

Now it was my turn to stand there confused. "I'm sorry, do we know each other?" I asked tilting my head a bit to the side

"Oh of course we do– well not yet anyways but we will!"

"We will?"

"Why yes, darling I think I'm your older sister Krista. It's either that or your my older sister, oh what the hell does it matter! when we've got all the time in the world to get to know each other!" she exclaimed smiling huge and enthusiastically

"WHAT THE FUCK?!
