For once, it had been a quiet day at the school, no one got into trouble, the only drama that really happened were the teachers yelling at the students for them to be quiet because class had started. That was all. Nova didn't have any homework, something she was thankful for, wanting to read the book some more, which she might do at the abandoned train station where Derek was continuing to train his betas. She walked down the steps of the main entrance of the school, her eyes trained on her phone as she held her skateboard with her other hand.

"Nova!" Allison called out

She stopped in her tracks, turning slightly to face the young Argent, lowering her phone and looking at her,

"I was wondering if you wanted to partner up for the chemistry project" she said as she caught up to her

"We're going to be switching partners" Nova informed "I've done that project before"

"Really?" Her eyebrows furrowing slightly

"Yeah" nodding slightly "I'm a month ahead in this curriculum" pointing to the school "see you tomorrow"

Allison gave her a smile and a nod in return, which allowed Nova to turn back around and walk away, jumping on her skateboard and riding away from the school, putting her phone in her back pocket.

She skidded to a stop, stepping off her skateboard and stomping on one end, catching the other and walking in the abandoned station, where Derek was already training Isaac and Boyd, Erica was off somewhere unknown, but Nova shrugged it off, dropping her backpack to the floor by the stairs and leaning the skateboard against the wall. Sitting down on the stairs, she watched as Isaac was thrown to the floor, shaking her head slightly, knowing that unpredictability was a werewolf's best friend, knowing that since she watched her family train. It was one of the other reasons she got into kickboxing, wanting to train with them, even if she wasn't a werewolf, and also wanting to be able to defend herself. With her knowledge in kickboxing, it sure took some people by surprise.

"A rule in the werewolf community . ." Nova spoke up as she unzipped her backpack "unpredictability in combat is your best friend"

"Oh what the hell do you know?" He muttered as he stood up

"A lot more than you, and she's not even a werewolf" Derek answered "hell, she can do a whole lot better than you"

Nova smiled slightly as she reached for her book, pulling it out of her backpack and leaning back against the stairs. This time it was Boyd's turn to go up against Derek, he was strong when he was human, but stronger now that he was a werewolf, but strength didn't always prove to be the best in combat. Nova always thought of her older brother when she looked at Boyd, they were alike in many ways, protective of everything that mattered to them, making the right choices, even if they may be wrong in the eyes of other people. She needed to find him, she needed to know that he was okay, and she knew he felt the same way, especially when he was looking out for Eli. A small sigh emitted from her nose, looking down at the book on her lap before opening it, picking up where she left off,

Phoenixes are amongst the strongest and most durable of supernatural creatures. They are quite powerful and almost impossible to kill.

Talons - the host has the ability to turn their fingernails into the talons for defense in human form and can cut through most things with ease

Superhuman Speed - A Phoenix is the fastest creature to exist. A Phoenix can move way above the speed of light.

Superhuman Strength - Phoenixes are incredibly strong; capable of effortlessly lifting a great weight with their tails, such as being able to fly up a long distance with a handful of people holding on to its tail. Even in human form, they are strong enough to break out of coffins, even after it has been nailed down and buried

Pyrokinesis - Has control over all fire

She understood the strength, remembering what she had done to the locker in the girls locker room, but she didn't quite get the speed, but she quickly thought it was because she hasn't exactly tried. Coach never demanded her to run as fast as she could in PE, but she was actually a lot faster than Scott when they were rock climbing. Irina had explained the pyrokinesis to her, and because she was just coming into her power, Nova needed help from her lighter until her phoenix truly accepted her. If and when that happened, she would then be able to produce her own fire, it was something that happens to all hosts, who had to prove themselves worthy, or else the phoenix will remain dormant until the end of the hosts lifespan. Nova wasn't exactly sure how she would be able to prove herself to the male phoenix that surrounded her, but the opportunity may show up some day, and she would never know it until he accepted her.

For now, all he will do is protect her when she sleeps, since he believed he failed on that night.

When she looked back up at Boyd and Derek, she had seen that the teenager had gotten the upper hand, but only for a moment before he was thrown to the floor as well, lasting a lot longer than Isaac.

"If she can do so much better, then why don't you fight her?" Isaac asked

"He likes me" Nova replied ". . and he'll pull his punches" looking back down at her book

She wasn't wrong, Derek actually did like her a lot better than his betas and they all knew that. Her hand suddenly shot up, catching a fist that was thrown her way, stopping it just inches from her face, her hand tightening on the fist, suddenly standing up and throwing a hard punch to his jaw, her book falling to the floor, Nova watching as Isaac stumbled back as she released his fist, a small smirk forming on her lips. Boyd picked up the book, looking at the pages for a moment, his eyebrows furrowing slightly when he looked at the words,

"What language is this?" He asked, looking at her

"What do you mean?" Nova asked, turning to look at him "it's English"

"No, it's not" looking back down at the book "this isn't English"
