"So why do we need their help?" Isaac asked as he followed Derek in one of the train cars

"Because it's harder to kill than I thought and I still don't know who it is" the alpha explained

"And they do?" Issac asked

"They might" walking out and making his way to a large wood box "which is why I need one of you to get on their good side"

"Mm, Scott or Stiles?" Erica asked

"Either" bluntness in his voice

"You know, the full moon's coming, Derek" Isaac reminded

"I'm aware of that" glancing at him

Derek turned to the box, lifting the lid and reaching inside, pulling out harnesses and chains, putting them on the floor,

"Oh my, these look comfortable" Erica said, holding one up, Derek taking it from her and putting it with the others

"You said you were gonna teach us to change whenever we wanted" Isaac said

"There hasn't been time" Derek replied

"But if you have to lock us up during the full moon, that means – that means you're alone against the Argents" looking at him

"They haven't found us" walking toward Nova

"Yet!" He said "so how about we forget the kanima?"

"We. Can't!" turning to look at him "there was something about the way Gerard looked at it. He wasn't afraid – at all. I don't know what he knows or what he's planning. But I'm sure about one thing. We have to find it first"

Before Derek took Nova home, he stopped a drive thru to get both of them something to eat, knowing his betas could take care of themselves for the most part, but since the redhead was slowly learning her abilities, that meant she wasn't able to completely take care of herself just yet. With Irina taking up longer shifts at the hospital, Derek wanted to make sure Nova was safe. They sat on the hood of the Camaro, on a cliff that looked over all of Beacon Hills, which was a view Nova liked to see,

"Oh, I got that thing you asked for" Derek informed "that favor"

He got off the hood of the car, walking over to the trunk an opening it, returning a few minutes later with a small box, handing it over to Nova. She wiped her hands on her jeans before grasping it, bringing it to her lap as Derek sat back down next to her. Nova opened the box, smiling slightly when she saw a silver flask inside, held in the center with a foam casing to keep it in place and a small funnel to fill it up. It was in the shape of a water droplet, something she had asked for, but if Derek couldn't find it, then a normal one would be fine. She wouldn't have been able to find one for herself, since she was underage and she would most likely get into some kind of trouble.

She also couldn't ask Irina, since she worked most of the time, and Nova didn't want to bother her with an odd request

She also couldn't ask Irina, since she worked most of the time, and Nova didn't want to bother her with an odd request.

"Thank you" Nova said, closing the box

"Can I ask why you need it?" Derek asked

Nodding slightly, Nova put the box down on the hood, reaching into her coat and pulling out the book, opening it and turning to the page she had marked.

"I've been paying close attention to the abilities that are listed here" she informed "there's also something on the kanima, but I'll tell you about that in a bit. These two here . ." pointing to the words in the books "translates to healing fire and healing tears.
With the fire, if the host of the phoenix can not produce tears at will, then the host must resort to the fire they carry within them. In other words, the fire of a phoenix has the same healing properties as it's tears"

"And the tears?" looking at her

"That's why I needed the flask" then pointing to the next line "healing tears – capable of healing wounds rapidly and eliminating poisons and disease, but only if the host knows what those poisons and disease are. Even if the phoenix has not truly accepted the host, he or she will still be able to produce healing tears. But this is what caught my attention" pointing to the next line "it is even possible to restore the recently deceased to life using phoenix tears and is the only antidote . . to kanima venom"

That caught his attention as well, Derek looked at her with slightly furrowed eyebrows, taking in the new information,

"If you can stop the venom, then how come you can be paralyzed?" He asked

"Until Enjin accepts me, my body is still kind of human" closing the book "the venom is also not life threatening, so if I cry, the venom will be pushed out of my system" Derek looking at her "I have rough nights, so this will fill up quick" lightly tapping the box with har fingernail

". . Why didn't you tell me?" concern forming in his eyes, referring to her rough nights

"We have a lot to worry about as is" shrugging slightly "besides, the last thing you'd want to deal with is a teenager who tries not to burst into tears every time she sees something that reminds her of her family. You deal with enough teenage drama"

"Nova, you're in pain" a gentle tone in his voice "it's okay to cry if you have to, but you can't keep everything bottled in"

"It's hard" looking at the view in front of them "to let people in. I only had my family, no friends at all. They're dead and my brothers are still out there, and I don't even know if they're okay"

"You just gotta have faith" looking at her

". . Kanima" changing the subject, taking a sheet of paper from her coat pocket "this is out of the bestiary, Allison and Stiles asked me to translate this, but I wasn't exactly honest with them. It calls the kanima a weapon of vengeance. There's a story in here about this South American priest who uses the kanima to execute murderers in his village until the bond grew strong enough that it killed whoever he wanted it to. But here's the thing, the kanima is actually supposed to be a werewolf"

"But it can't be" shaking his head slightly

"Until it resolves that in its past which manifested it" looking at him
