Two months later,
Steve flew to London with Peggy and her parents for Christmas. They all enjoyed the family time they had together. They attended Christmas service, visited Thomas's grave. Peggy could tell Ellie was still hurting.
At the family's Christmas dinner, Katie pulled Peggy aside.
"Hey Pegs,can we meet for tea tomorrow I really need to talk to you." Katie said
"Of course Aunt Katie." She said
The next afternoon, they met at the tea room.
"What happened in NY? Elle hasn't been herself since she came home. If I ask she just tells me she doèsn't want to talk about it." Katie said
Peggy sighed as she looked down.
"She was seeing Steve's best friend, James. It started out as a fling but grew into something more serious. They fell in love, but when James asked her to stay she said no. They got into a fight he accused her of cheating and broke up with her. He's disappeared to his dad's, she had a miscarriage. And I dont even know why she wouldn't stay.." Peggy said
Katie sighed, "I do.." she whispered
They finished their tea and discussed wedding ideas.
