A GRIN SPREAD ACROSS MY FACE AS HER voice filled my ears. It was like a warm embrace, chasing away the lingering sting of Ethan's prank. Bella. I had missed her more than I cared to admit, even though it had only been a month since we last spoke. A few times, she had sounded unwell, and I had guessed it was the preparation for her transformation.

"Hey there, Bella," I greeted her, my voice laced with joy. "How have you been?"

"Better," she replied, and I could hear the smile in her voice. "I got turned into a vampire."

My heart leaped with excitement. "Really? Did Edward finally do it?"

Bella chuckled. "Yeah, he did."

I let out a contented sigh. "I didn't think anything could make me this happy."

"I know," she said, and I could hear the amusement in her voice. "Also, my dad saw me."

My eyes widened in shock. "Charlie saw you when you were a newborn?"

As I sat there, I could sense the palpable aura of apprehension emanating from my family. It was as if the very air around us was thick with unease.

"Pretty much," Bella replied, her voice tinged with a hint of resignation.

"How did that happen?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.

"Well, Jacob spun a tale about me being sick and going through some changes," she explained.

"Going through changes?" I repeated incredulously, my mind racing with the implications of what she was saying. "Jake's an idiot. The Volturi..."

"He didn't tell my dad about the vampires," Bella interjected, cutting me off. "He just said that I've changed."

As I mulled over the situation, my thoughts turned to Jacob. "So, Jake knows you're a vampire and he's okay with it now?"

Bella nodded, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. "Yes," she admitted. "Surprisingly."

Despite the tension in the room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. Perhaps things weren't as dire as they seemed.

"Since when did he and Edward become best buds?" I inquired, a smirk playing on my lips. "Is there a little one on the way?"

Bella let out a nervous laugh, her eyes darting around the room. "No, no, that's not possible," she stammered.

"But just imagine it," I mused, my mind already spinning with possibilities. "A half-vampire, half-human hybrid. The ultimate supernatural being."

Bella's response was odd, but I didn't dwell on it. "Actually, I was calling to tell you something," she said, her voice low and serious. "I'm a vampire now."

I leapt with excitement. Finally, my best friend had joined me in the immortal world. "That's amazing!" I exclaimed. "We should definitely hang out sometime."

"Sounds good," Bella replied, her tone lightening. "I'll give you a call."

As I ended the call and slipped my phone back into my pocket, I couldn't help but smile to myself. It was about time Bella joined me in this eternal life.

"Wait, Bella's a vampire now?" Joseph asked, his eyes widening in surprise.

I nodded, feeling a sense of pride wash over me. "Finally," I said. "It's been a long time coming."

Ethan grinned, clapping me on the back. "That's awesome news," he said.

Rhona's response was a little more morbid. "Well, at least you don't have to worry about accidentally killing her anymore," she joked.
