The Cullens stood on the battlefield with their witnesses as they awaited the arrival of The Volturi and their guard + witnesses of their own.
Carlisle and Elizabeth Cullen stood in front of everyone with Cora behind them and Klaus next to Elizabeth, in wolf form.
Tyler was also in wolf form, next to Caroline. Edward and Bella stood a few feet to the side of Elizabeth and Carlisle with Renesmee behind them.
"If we survive this, I'll follow you anywhere, woman." Garrett tells Kate.
"Now you tell me." Kate says.
Everyone let out a chuckle.
Soon.. other vampires with black and red coats walk up. They were away from us but because everyone on the field was of the supernatural. Only the witches and hunters couldn't see as the rest do.
Elizabeth turns to see Carlisle looking at her. He nods and she gives a light smile.
"The red coats are coming. The red coats are coming." Garrett says.
The side of The Cullens watched as The Volturi and their people walked up.
"Aro's looking for Alice." Edward says.
Elizabeth sees that Aro was looking around the field on their side. The wolves howl as they come out from the woods and join The Cullens and their allies. Jacob goes over and stands by Bella, Edward, and Renesmee.
"They're not sure how to proceed. They're weighing options. Choosing key targets. Me, of course. You, Eleazar, Tanya. He sees Elizabeth. Keep her close. Marcus is reading the strength of our ties to each other, looking for weak points." Edward says.
They watched as they came to stop. Elizabeth turns to Carlisle with worry.
Carlisle kisses her head then Cora's before stepping forward. Elizabeth felt the urge to put a shield on him but decided to wait for that.
"Aro, let us discuss things as we used to. In a civilized manner." Carlisle says.
"Fair words, Carlisle. But a little out of place, given the battalion you've assembled against us." Aro says.
"I can promise you, that was never my intent. No laws have been broken." Carlisle says.
"We see the children! Do not treat us as fools!" Caius snarls.
"They are not immortal! These witnesses can attest to that. Or you can look. See the flesh of human blood in their cheeks." Carlisle says, gesturing to Cora and Renesmee.
"Artifice!" Caius snaps.
"I will collect every facet of the truth. But from those more central to the story." Aro says, with a hand up.
He then trails his eyes along the field.
"Edward, as the child clings to your newborn mate, I assume, you are involved. And Carlisle, I see the other child clings to your mate. This doesn't scream you're completely innocent in all this." Aro says, extending his hands.
He extends his hand.
Edward pats Renesmee's head then turns to Bella, nodding. Carlisle turns to Cora and gently rubs her cheek before turning to Elizabeth.
"It's gonna be okay." Carlisle says.
Elizabeth didn't like the thought of Carlisle and Edward going over there but nods.
