Ukraine
Immeasurable sadness overwhelms me
For those in the line of fire.
Evil has once again reared its ugly head
And people are needlessly dying.
Why must this nation endure
Such cold and heartless actions?
When will the lesson be learned?
That one man's dream
Can be the world's nightmare.
We must learn how to thwart evil
When it presents itself.
Without having to sacrifice the lives
Of innocent men, women and children.
Will Wars Ever Cease?
I wonder
If there will ever come a time
When wars will cease
And be no more?
When young men and women
Will look in history books
And won't believe
The pictures they see.
I wonder what they will think
How barbaric their
Ancestors must have been
Or how brave the defenders
Of freedom were.
War-22 Vaccine
The thought crosses my mind.
I wish we could develop a vaccine
To immunize us
Against waging war.
Then reality sets in.
I know how it would go.
It would fall into nefarious hands
And the vaccinated people
Would passively obey
The tyrants and oppressors.
Unable to resist and fight back.
I guess we must accept our fate
That we are destined to stand and fight
If we wish to have freedom and justice.
Trust
How do you trust a nation
Who unprovoked invades you?
Crushes you into submission.
Murders men, women, and children.
Occupies your sacred land.
Steals your dreams of the future.
Takes away your freedom.
How can you trust them?
Poland
Come rest your weary head
In my arms.
Do not be afraid.
There is safety here.
Poland knows about war.
They know of heartache and fear.
They were once coal and iron.
Now they are hardened steel.
One Man
It only takes one man
To end this war.
One man
No less. No more.
One man is responsible
For the death and destruction.
It all started and can end
With one man's instruction.
I pray with all I have
That this war will end.
Too many on both sides have died.
Do not scoff, deny, or defend.
Just let this war end.
Too many have sacrificed
Their full measure.
All war is overpriced.
