Apples and bees
Precious memories are these.
But few now remain to remember
On this cold day in November.
How I wish I could travel in time
Back to those days sublime.
People I took for granted back then
Are who I miss time and time again.
Sitting on the back porch
Looking up at the stars.
Keeping an eye out for the red one.
Wondering if there was life on mars.
Sitting down to a big spaghetti dinner.
A crisp green salad and Italian dressing,
Garlic bread and iced tea.
Always a winner.
There was no subject too trivial.
No opinion disregarded.
No matter your age or belief.
Life was nearly always convivial.
I miss those times with family.
With the mother of my mother,
Verna Appleby, my loving grandmother
Pronounced Applebee.
My grandmother, Verna (Peggy) Appleby, passed on November 11, 1997, at the age of 95. I still, 25 years later, vividly recall the early morning phone call. When I was young, I never thought of these days that I am now living without them. I was lucky to have such a wonderful family. I miss them so much.
