Idk man, tried something new.

I did project my own issues onto Cathy and I feel weird about it
So like, mentions of picking skin from fingers? Idk how to say it. And there's slight bleeding, not a main thing just thought I'd say it.
Please do let me know if I should add warnings, simply because I am not an expert about what is and isn't worth warning about.

'I read your diary' prompt

3rd person's P.o.V.

Where was it?

Where was it?!

Cathy was frantically looking around her room.

Her usually clean room was a complete mess. Books, notes, loose papers, some trash, pens and clothes were covering the floor. She was digging through everything multiple times, making an even bigger mess.

She didn't care how loud she was being, she had to find it.

If someone had taken it, she'd definitely tear their room apart. And if they read it... she would probably cry. Then lock herself away for a week.

And if somehow, what she wrote reached Anne, she was totally moving away across the world, changing her name and cutting herself off from all social media.

What was Cathy so stressed about? She lost her diary. And she wrote everything into that book, everything.

How she was struggling to make friends, how she couldn't find words when trying to talk, how she mispronounced soap out of stress at the drugstore and then ran off, how she felt about Anne, how she wanted to kiss her, how she wanted to hold her hand, how much she hated herself for feeling that way, how weird she thought she was being, how many times she just wanted to not be awake and for how long, how she pulled skin from around her nails.

Yeah. Everything.

Cathy was sitting behind her bed, checking for the eighth time if her diary was there.

She just wanted to scream, but she couldn't say a word, she could only whimper. Her hands were sore, some of her nails slightly bleeding, not enough to be noticeable to anyone else though.
Another personal pain, unnoticed by anyone else.

Cathy kept all her problems to herself, be it nightmares or a sprained wrist. Not even Catalina knew about them.

Now someone might know all that stresses her. Just, who was it? Cathy wondered.

She got up and went to jump on her bed, on top of a literal shelf and dozens of books, but the tall figure in the doorway distracted her from going through with that.

"What?" she managed to mumble in a raspy voice. She couldn't make out who was standing there, they didn't move or say a word. Like they were studying every single detail about Cathy.

What Cathy didn't know was that Anne was the one standing there and she wasn't necessarily looking at Cathy's hands, face or room, she was just shocked. Cathy stood there, her knees only weakly holding her.

The entire scene made Anne feel horribly guilty.

You see, two days ago Anne went snooping around Cathy's desk. She didn't mean to take anything other than their math notes. But she acted on impulse, when she saw a blue notebook with a few stickers on it.

As it turns out, that was not a school notebook, but Cathy's diary. And Anne's curiosity just got worse.

She read and read.
