"Do you think I should tell him about—" Anahita asked her friend, Dhani. The two girls idled on the balcony attached to her bed-room.

Dhani shifted her squat on the granite flooring and looked up from the cloth she stitched. Anahita kept leaning against the parapet, looking front at the clear blue sky.

"Malik is a gentleman, he deserves to know." She replied.

Anahita's lips curved into a sarcastic smile.

"He knows him though. They have met."

Dhani sighed, - "Yes, Annie. But that was different. And you are still sulking over Vakil Sahib, right?"

Anahita doesn't reply and so, the young maid continued, - "The maids back in the Haveli used to say, for a woman to even think of a man other than her husband is a sin. A great sin. Vakil Sahib is now a stranger to you, Malik is your swami now."

After lunch, they all gathered in the living room once again

After lunch, they all gathered in the living room once again. Anahita eased a little, but she kept smiling and nodding. Jayanta expressed her displeasure with the bahu still continuing her studies, - "Home tutoring by females is best for young women. Besides, culinary skills and child raising skill is better. I don't understand this trend of studying amongst girls."

She sighed, then shifted in her place, - "How many months passed, beta?" She enquired to Abhay about his marriage.

He cleared his throat, relaxed in his seat, - "Almost ten months."
