Anahita climbed down from the local bus, and tugged on her purse, adjusting the pallu of her red polka dotted saree. The smoke from the bus fanned her face. She coughed into her handkerchief and walked ahead.
Abhaiveer had insisted a million times on taking their car, but she kept refusing. Anahita didn't want to burden him. His business was settling in a new city and she wanted to support him.
Anahita exited the elevator to the fifth floor. She exhaled through her mouth, removing her oversized sunglasses. After ringing the bell in two quick successions, a moment later the door flung open. A young girl in her late teens opened the door.
"Good afternoon, Malk—" She stopped as Anahita passed by her, and the girl too hurried behind to the master bedroom.
"Have you fed, Aryaman?" Anahita enquired in a flat tone.
