Max's mom and stepdad had no problem with Kat sleeping over with the younger girls, her mom loved the idea while her stepdad was just silent about it. After the girls changed into pajamas, Kat sat on Max's bed brushing her hair out, watching El. The three of them silent, as they all go over what just happened.
"It doesn't make sense," El said aloud.
Max was confused. "What doesn't make sense?"
"Heather. The blood. The ice." El voiced out softly.
Kat started to think about what they had just encountered as Max was just brushing it off, agreeing that Heather was just sick and Billy was being his normal typical self. "No, something is not right." Halting Max and El. "Billy has never called me by my full name, only one time and that was to prove that he found out my name. He's been a flirtatious asshole to me since you guys moved here. No way would he have passed up a chance to comment on the fact that I put my hand on him when that's what he has been wanting. We can't use the excuse that he cared for Heather, because that's not him, he only cares about himself. -- He might not be a murderer, but something else is going on." Max and El looked down at their laps, in comfort Kat reached out and placed a hand on each of them. "We'll figure it out together."
After a moment, to brighten the mood, Max took out three comics. Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Batgirl. El has never seen a female comic book before, so Max had to point out that's why El shouldn't hang out with Mike all the time. She then went on to explain to El all about Wonder Woman.
Something else was bothering Kat. "Earlier you said you two were spying on people. Was I one of them?"
Max and El both looked at each other before they started giggling. El shook her head. "No, but we did look at Steve while he was driving home last night." Max said for the both of them, the girls looked at each other both they started giggling again. From all the excitement of the day, the girls passed out while reading comics.
The Next Morning
Kat was asleep on Max's bed, Max had an arm thrown over Kat, while El was curled up in a ball against Kat. "Do you copy? This is a code red." Radio static was loud through the silent room. "I repeat, this is a code red. -- Max. Do you copy? This is a code red!
Kat recognized the voice from anywhere. "Lucas?" Kat stretched out, knocking Max off the bed. El peaked an eye open just to chuckle at the sound of Max groaning from the floor. Max reached out for the walkie telling Lucas to shut up before turning it off.
About five minutes after she turned off the walkie the house phone rang. "You've got to be kidding me." Max scoffed as she grabbed the phone. "I'm sleeping. Go away." Max goes silent for a moment. "What are you talking about?" Listening to the voice again. "What?" Max hung up the phone.
"What did he say?" El said as she sat up beside Kat. Max looked at her two friends and told them that Mike wanted them to head over as something had happened and that their lives were at stake. Kat groaned as she laid back covering her eyes with her arm.
