As Spider-man booked it down the hallway while dodging the numerous bullets being shot at him, he couldn't help but smile in relief.

Things weren't looking so good for him. Not in the slightest bit, not even at all. In fact, things were looking so bad that Spider-man was thinking he'd rather face the wrath of Cairo than deal with King Pin. And for Peter, who was madly in love with Cairo's younger sister and would do absolutely anything to attain his blessing, that was saying a lot.

"Give up you stupid brat!" one of King Pin's lackeys shouted at Peter as he slid around a corner so he was blocked by a wall.

Spider-man grinned underneath his mask. Peter, despite the fact he was getting shot at, wasn't taking the whole chasing thing too seriously. Not when he was ready to fight the big man himself. Some dudes with guns weren't nearly as powerful as the drug lord.

"Can we stop playing cat and mouse now? I'm bored!" Spider-man called out from behind the corner. He started climbing up the wall so he could get in the ceiling tiles. "Why don't you all just go home and let me fight your boss? Sound like a good plan?"

The guy from before led the charge around the wall, "Never. You wont even be able to lay your eyes on him ever again. We'll make sure of it!"

Peter rolled his eyes, sliding the tile back so he could slip into the ceiling. Just as the armed guys ran around the corner, Peter had been about halfway done with putting the tile back in its rightful place.

The hoodlums looked around for the bug hero only to come up with nothing.

"You're gonna need to try a bit harder than that if you actually wanna make sure that happens," Peter called out.

He was quickly crawling his way through the ceiling, making the source of his voice a little tough to locate. When the guys were able to decide Spiderman being in the ceiling wasn't going to stop them, the leader of their pack made a hand signal. Not long later there were bullets being fired up into the very spot Peter was hiding. Which made him panic for the first time since the chase started, "Holy—?! I didn't mean to try that hard; you're going to kill me at this rate!"

On the other end of the earpiece, Peter's partner couldn't help but roll her eyes. All she could was getting from his fight was audio. Which meant she was hearing gun shots and Peter's snide remarks. He was playing with his life right now, and that was starting to make her just the slightest bit anxious.

"Would you stop it?" she hissed, rushing down the stairs with a Flash struggling behind her. Yeah, those hits from the guys who ambushed them left quite a mark. "You're going to get yourself killed."

"Pshh—" Peter scoffed out. "I would never." Not even a second later a bullet was shot through a spot in the ceiling right next to him. It just narrowly missed. Still, Spider-man let out a girly shriek, "What the fu—" Peter slid back the tile nearest him and poked his head down, glaring at the hoodlums below. "You almost hit me; that could've killed me!"

The guys, despite all just realizing their target was back in their sight once again, all paused. They stared at him with bewilderment. Seriously, was this kid even listening to some of the stuff coming out of his mouth?

One of the criminals was pulled out of his shock just enough to utter a simple sentence. "Yeah, that's like the whole point...?"

"Oh," Spider-man pretended to play dumb. He was already slowly starting to slide the ceiling tile back in place so he could quickly make his escape. "In that case," Peter mumbled, "carry on!" Then he quickly shoved the ceiling back into place and started crawling at inhumane speeds.

He got five seconds of shock before the bullets started being fired again.

Luckily for Peter, that was just enough time for him to make it to the other end of the hallway like he wanted. Luckily for Peter, when he exited the ceiling, he was right by the door that led to the stairwell where his companions would surely be. Luckily for Peter, he was greeted with said companions coming down from the floor above right as he opened the door.
