MOM THOUGHT THE BIKINI I HAD ON WAS TOO SKIMPY.

I'd burrowed the slinky top and bottom from Aaliyah because she berated me for my 'childish' swimsuits and then she forced me into a bikini of hers that mimicked more lingerie than actual pieces of clothing.

It was kind of embarrassing, if not inappropriate, to be wearing this fit around my mom who was big on conservative dressing. Everyday, all year, and all seasons to be exact.

"Here," Mom threw a towel at me, scrutinising me with disapproval, "Cover yourself with this. I can't let you run around wearing only that."

Damnit Aaliyah.

Today was another warm day and so it wasn't surprising that everybody had decided that they wanted to pay visit to our usually abandoned local beach.

Usually the deserted seaside was cold and grey but during summers like this, it was the best place to dance and swim under the sun.

Mom never usually intruded on me and my sisters' outgoings but I guessed that she was feeling a little lonely since she'd decided to tag along with us this day. Nobody had the heart to tell her that she wasn't invited and so we just let her come with us.

In my mind, the day could turn out to be the perfect day that I'd been hoping for all summer. Just the sun, the sea, and all my friends and family all coming together; nothing was a more perfect reflection of my childhood summers than that.

"Oh how the tables have turned," I found myself scowling at the voice now buzzing in my left ear, rolling my eyes, "Remember when I was the fashion whore of the family?"

I turned on my older sister, pulling a face at her. "You still are!" I hissed, jerking the towel tighter around my hips, "Stop judging me! You are in no place to judge me!"

Fahjah rose her brows nonchalantly at me. "I'm not judging you," She said patronisingly, "I'm just telling you."

Oh what a bitch.

"There was a time I wasn't scared of the water," Our little sister in her cute modest one piece pushed herself between me and Fahjah, her expression wistful, "Now I am really scared of the sea because I know I am definitely not a swimmer."

Fahjah scoffed. "Uh-yeah because Mommy and Daddy didn't listen when the teachers said that they should send us to swimming lessons," Fahjah then looked to me bitterly with mild envy like she suddenly remembered that she was talking for herself and not for me, "Of course only little miss here knows how to swim since she was got the privilege of being taught by her lovely guardian princes."
