CHAPTER 24

After I left the dungeons,I went back to the Western Palace to check up on Rashta again

As I was on my way to the palace,I was greeted by the bastards secretary on the entrance

"Your majesty"

He bowed to me and as he lifted back his head,I saw he had a nervous face

"What brings you here?"

"His majesty is asking for your presence,your majesty"

Why would he ask for me now?

It's not like he's related to this incident anymore

There's nothing for him to say to me in this situation

"Tell him I'll come to him after I'm done with what I'm doing"

The secretary left and I went to Rashta's room

I went inside and I saw that she was still unconscious

I asked for a new batch of basin of water and towel and I sat at the side of the bed

The basin and towel came and I removed the towel on Rashta's head before

I repeated to wipe Rashta's face and putted a new towel on her forehead

It was very quiet at first until the door was opened

"Didn't I order to not let anyone in the room?"

I spoke not looking at the door while brushing Rashta's hair out of the way

"Is that so?You must be really busy Empress"

I turned around and was surprised to see that the bastard was in the room

Why was he here?

It's not like he's got any relevance to the situation anymore

"I see you're taking good care of the girl"

"She had fainted from the shock. Someone has to stay by her side and she's my responsibility "

We were silent for a while until he spoke again

"What are you going to do with that girl now?"

I looked at him sceptically and answered him

"I will still keep her by my side.It was just a nonsense of a senile old man.They will forget about it soon enough.I can't leave her by herself especially with what just happened "

He's face shifted to a hurt expression but he turned away to hide it

"I see.You must really care about her.How lucky..."

He turned around and walked towards the door

"I will leave you two alone now.I will be in my office"

He got outside the room and closed the door

I could hear his heavy footsteps from here as if he was trying to hold himself back

Oh...

Did it hurt him to see his wife caring about another person when he's been wanting affection from her?

Well...

He would be doing the same thing if he was in this situation so what's there to feel bad about?

He might as well have a taste of his own medicine

Anyways,going back to Rashta.She'd be criticized from now on because of what happened

I can't do anything to disperse the situation but I can try to favor Rashta more to show the people that offending Rashta would be offending me

But that doesn't mean they will behave when I'm not around

They're likely to get to her when she's by herself and defenseless

If only she didn't go to that party,but then again,that Viscount is bound to know about Rashta at some point so there's no use blaming her

Rashta is already in an awful situation,she doesn't need anymore scolding

No matter how much I try to help her,she can only really depend on herself

She has to learn to take care of herself as constantly helping her with everything would be setting her up for failure

That's exactly why she ended up like that in the original

She depended so much on Duke Ergi that she couldn't do anything when he betrayed her.She had no way of knowing Ergi was just using her and was plotting with Heinley against the Eastern Empire.She really only had Duke Ergi to rely on as she couldn't with that prick

She loved that buffon but she couldn't trust him to protect her.I can't blame her,he only took care of her to give him an heir.She literally got stabbed,drugged, blackmailed, criticized and attacked under the same roof as him

How was she supposed to put her well being on a man who obviously have put her in an unfair position,used her and kept lying to her,making her believe he had her best interest in mind when really he just treated her like a pet and not a partner.

No one really cared about her and no one ever tried to help her.That imbecile wasn't even trying to help her in being a good Empress as it was never his plan.He didn't care about her,he pitied her.It was so obvious he didn't love her cause he didn't even hesitate to divorce and toss her aside when he got 'his' heir.He was only using her to have the legitimate heir that he so desperately wanted.

He was only ever attracted to her child-like attitude and how she reminded him of my Empress as a child

He lost his interest on both women as soon as they both matured and grew up.

He only liked women who acted 'child-like'

What.a.pedophile

But there's something suspicious about this

He could have used this against her but he didn't do anything about it

I wonder if these two ever interacted behind my back

Could they be perhaps in good terms since he didn't take this chance to get rid of her?

Could he be thinking of using her even in this life?

Wow,things just never change in people like him

Looks like I'd have to be more careful around him when it comes to Rashta
