Chapter Twenty-Eight

 “EMMA!”

OH SHIT! Not that was close. We both jump and separate, turning around to find his mother.

“Oh did I scare you guys?”

I looked up at Quin and smile as he rolls his eyes.

“Oh Emma, look at you!”

She came up to me and hugged, swinging me side to side. You would think being five four and a tiny little thing wouldn’t have so much strength, but no, she was probably one of the strongest women, next to mom. With her curly brown hair and brown eyes, she was a very beautiful woman who was strong and independent like her kids; her mate was one of my father’s best friends.

“Hi Joy.”

“Mom, let her go, you’re cutting her air supply.”

He manages to pull her away and bring me back into his arms.

“Oh stop!”

“Mom, what are you doing here anyway?”

“Well since you weren’t making your way home yet and Carolina has been calling me nonstop all morning to see if you two got home alright I figured I’d come by and see if you were here.”

“I’m sorry; mom and I really don’t…”

“Oh no explanations!

I nudge him against the ribs, laughing which only makes him grab me by the neck and give me a nuggie.

“Quin!”

“Not laughing now are you?”

I elbowed him again, pushing him away and stuck my tongue out to him. Jack ass!

“You never change.

“You know you love it.”

“Yeah….yeah…yeah.”

“You two haven’t changed a bit ever since you last saw each other.”

“Nah, Em and I will always have a special bond.”

He winked at me and I just shook my head, he was never let me forget our one night.

“Whatever. I’m tired, so thanks for everything and goodnight.”

“Awwww… honey I was hoping to have you over for a late dinner with us.”

I looked at Quin and he was seriously using this puppy dog face.

“I’m starting to hate that face.”

“Then why does it get every time?”

“Because I’m a sucker for pathetic boys who try to act like men, but today, I’m really tired.”

His mother couldn’t keep her laugh any longer and laughed which got me going as well.

“Yeah laugh it up, but we all know Emma knows just how much of a man I can be.”

I stopped laughing and slapped the back of his head.

“Oh Emma.”

‘Stop it!’

‘Shit Em that hurt.’

‘Serves you right, what is wrong with you?!’

I looked back at his mother and smiled.

“Thanks Joy, but really I’m not hungry and I just want to go to bed.”

“Yeah and I’m staying with her.”
