TREVOR’S POV
I couldn’t let her think she wasn’t worth it, so right then I felt the need to claim her. She had Xavier’s child in her and I’ll be dammed if she thought that wasn’t worth living for.
As soon as my teeth sunk in all her thoughts and feelings came crashing into me making me hold onto her even more. Her body felt amazing against mine, her heat was rising and I knew she was going into heat. I was ready to pull away when she presses my head down even further sinking my teeth into her. It wasn’t until she started crying that I pulled away and licked her womb closed.
“Why?”
“So you’ll have something to live for.”
I got up then and left before my body took over my brain and took her right there and then. I couldn’t do that to my best friend no matter how much I knew she belonged to me or how much he asked me to. I claimed her, she will have the baby, something to remind her of him always and she would be protected, but I was not going to take her love away from him.
EMMA’S POV
When he said that, it dawned on me… The baby, Xavier’s baby to be exact. As soon as he left everyone came in, but I didn’t want to talk to anyone.
“Please just leave me alone.”
It wasn’t until the next day that I realized I had a funeral to organize and checked myself out of the hospital despite doctor’s orders.
I didn’t let anyone know I was coming out, but I knew as soon as I was out they would be calling someone.
I was running into the house when I felt him near, making me stop.
“Emma!”
I turned around and locked eyes with him, feeling that sensation of having your mate near, but I pushed it back because there was no way I was going to be with him.
TREVOR’S POV
As soon as the doctor told me she had checked herself out I went straight to the house. I was on my way anyway to get a suit to dress Xavier in, when I saw her. She was glowing, I knew it was because of the baby, but her eyes, her eyes told a different story. I called out to her making her stop right above the steps of the house.
“Don’t lecture me, I’m fine.”
“Well I’m going to lecture you! You need to rest, get your strength back!”
“I’m fine and what are you doing here?”
“Funeral home asked me to get some clothes and the hospital called me, I figured you would be here.”
I felt the ping in my heart just thinking about it and I knew she felt it too. Ever since the initial mating process I could sense all her emotions, but I blocked mine from her, she didn’t need to feel my agony as well as hers, she had a baby to take care of and I had a pack to run. I was so stressed out with everything. From the pack to learning how to use and control my wolf was something I never thought would happened atleast not this soon. My heart felt better than ever now that I had his wolf, but again it was his and I knew it.
“I’ll get them and take them over myself.”
“No, you’re to go in there and go straight to bed.”
“No.”
“Emma…”
My wolf growled and so did I. She was pregnant; she needed to rest and take care of herself.
“Don’t you growl at me that is my husband not yours, I should be planning the funeral not you!”
“He was my best friend and my Alpha; it is my duty to do as he wished. He asked me to and that is exactly what I’m doing.”
