Chapter Thirty

XAVIER’S POV

As soon as grandmother took my hand I knew and as soon as I felt Emma’s wolf come within me, not only did I feel excitement, but anger, despair, sadness and mostly loneliness. Her wolf didn’t even feel like it was there. My wolf whimpered at the thought of his mate being in this condition, but she only made it known that it was wasn’t because of us, but because of Antonio. They loved him and that angered me to the point I couldn’t even look at her even if I felt like it was all my fault.

“Xavier?”

I turned and looked at her grandfather.

“Do you understand that you are to keep her wolf safe until Emma is ready to become Luna and once more your wife?”

“Yes Sir.”

I could see her looking at me, but I kept my face stern and focused only on her grandfather.

“Good, I think we are done here. Now we can focus on Christmas Dinner!”

Everyone started chatting and I turned to Emma who only turns away and stands up with a little bit of hesitation.

“Baby girl.”

As soon as the words come out of his mouth I felt her freeze in place and myself walking towards her, but her grandfather passes me by with a tap on my shoulder and goes to her side.

EMMA’S POV

As soon as he calls me, I freeze in my spot, placing my hand on my heart.

“May I have a word with you?”

I don’t say anything and walk into what seemed to be an office. I wait as he closed the door before I speak.

“Are you now my papa?”

He doesn’t say anything and gently lifts up my chin to find that I was now crying.

“I had to do it; I can’t keep letting you throw away your life like this. You’re too smart, too young and too strong to just give up.”

“Are you my papa now or not?”

“Of course baby girl.”

Then don’t call me that.”

“Emma…”

“Don’t.”

I push his hand away and step away.

“You don’t know anything.”

“I know more than you think.”

I smirk

“You always did think you knew everything. Nana did always say you were full of it.”

“You grandmother was a smart woman, just like you.”

I shook my head, looking down at my hands.

“No, nana gave up because her father gave her no choice, the same choice I’m being given today.”

“She had a happy life, had everything she’d ever wanted and that’s what I want for you.”

“No, what you want is power, you want great grandchildren to pass down the name and a legacy; you want Alpha’s nothing more and nothing less. The more babies, the more pure Alphas and that means more power for you!”

“You’re out of you mind and out of control!”

“What I am is seeing things for what they are and can now understand why Nana ended her life.”
