~~~
Night had just fallen over the small village of SouthSpear, and the residents were preparing for bed as the few selected citizens slipped into protective armor to fend off any unwanted, undead, guests.
Ponk was among those chosen to guard the village, he was a smart young man who knew how to 'sweet talk' his way out of almost every situation, his few facial scars proving so.
He was assigned to the northern side of the village, the side that housed most of the boring things like the library or miniature cathedral the villagers had managed to build. Ponk was unamused by his task, but did it to the best of his ability nonetheless.
Sporting a yellow and black striped red mask, a well loved gray hoodie, and white joggers with dark red stripes down the sides beneath the given armor, Ponk had a little pep in his step, invigorated by his comfortable outfit.
As the young man patrolled his corner of the village, he quickly grew bored, as he was aware nothing often came from that way. He opted to hop the boundary fence and explore instead of patrolling the border.
It wasn't long until Ponk stumbled across a small cave, which held some untouched iron near the opening.
Since this part outside of the village was relatively unexplored, Ponk continued to look around the area, finding various small caves, supplies, and other things.
It was well over halfway into the night when the platinum blonde heard a sudden uproar from the direction of the village, causing him to run back to see what was going on.
Once he reached the village, Ponk froze in horror. Half of the village was up in flames, pillagers and monsters alike rampaging throughout.
It all happened so fast, he reacted so fast, Ponk jumped into the fray, helping his fellow night time guards fend off the numerous attacks.
It wasn't long before the sun rose and the village was in shambles, not much left of it other than the few remaining survivors and half of a building or two.
"This is all your fault."
"Ponk was supposed to be watching the northern side! He's the one who let them past!"
"He should be hanged for it!"
"He should be stoned!"
"Worthless, no good, sorry scum excuse of a warrior!!"
Multiple horrendous ideas were thrown out into the crisp and smoke filled morning air as Ponk stood there, defeated. Nobody was standing up for him, he knew he did wrong, what would his fate be?
"Quiet!!!" A single, stern voice rose from the rest.
A slightly older male with jet black hair and fiery eyes stepped forth, his presence almost demanding attention.
"Ponk didn't mean for that to happen, he just went to gather more supplies for us, correct?" The male looked towards Ponk, who nodded.
"Then, it is no fault completely of his. It was not intentional. Though, it did create much damage and chaos... I have an idea for what to do with him, but it does not involve his death."
A few mutters and 'aww's could be heard from the small crowd, but no one spoke up.
"He can spend the rest of his life in Pandora's Vault, that maximum security prison not too terribly far from here."
A younger woman spoke up, enraged, "But Sapnap, we can't let him go unpunished!!! He destroyed our home!!!"
The dark haired male sighed, "He won't be going unpunished. Ponk will meet lots of bad people in that prison. Plus, I hear that the warden isn't too great of a person either."
After much more conversing, the small group of people were in agreement.
Ponk had no say in his fate.
The platinum blonde had his eyes glued to the floor as he entered the maximum security prison, the handcuffs he wore already irritating his wrists.
As he was guided into a cell, he sighed, not bothering to reply to the guard's few questions. It wasn't like he wouldn't get a chance to talk to them later.
Ponk sat down on the uncomfortable bed, still ignoring the guard, who kept trying to get his attention.
His attention was only earned when an enchanted trident was pressed against his throat and a tall, broad shouldered man adorned in shimmering netherite armor pinned him against the cell wall.
When did the cell door open? Ponk hadn't even heard this man's approach.
"When you are spoken to, you are expected to respond. Got it?"
The intimidating male's voice was deep and as slick as ice, sending a shiver down Ponk's spine.
All he could do was nod.
"Good."
Ponk was released from the strong grip and the trident was lowered, allowing him to fully take in the situation around him.
The male who had pinned him against the wall was looking at him with narrowed eyes, while the guard, a dark skinned creature with pure white eyes and horns protruding from his head, spoke quietly yet firmly,
"Sam, you don't need to use that much... force... he just came in today... I wouldn't have expected him to listen to me no matter who he was..."
The aforementioned male huffed,
"It's better to start them off fearful than confident, I don't want another Dream situation on my hands. It was bad enough that this new blood tried to start out tough, 'd like to see what he does now." There was a momentary pause, "Anyways, don't warm up to him too quick, he won't be in this cell for long. He's scheduled to move to my own cell block instead of Ant's, due to the overflow of stupidity over there. Poor guy's got enough to deal with."
The guard nodded, looking sympathetically at Ponk before turning and leaving.
Sam, the warden, turned back to Ponk, leaning down to his eye level,
"Welcome to Pandora's Vault."
