"If I could fall into the sky. Do you think time would pass me by?
'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles, if I could just see you tonight."

Chapter Theme Song: 'A Thousand Miles' by Vanessa Carlton.

Chelsy

The rain beat against the window of Nathan's room, and I stood in the corner, my arms wrapped around me, refusing to get more water droplets on his floor than I already had.

"Forget about that jerk, Chels, he doesn't deserve you," Nathan said as he dug into his drawer to get me one of his shirts. "You deserve a great guy, you're amazing and perfect and-"

"But not perfect enough for you?"

He froze for a moment then brought his gaze to me, a sad look in his eyes.

There was a brief silence, only the sound of the pouring rain against the windowpane.

He turned his face away and continued digging. "It's not like that."

Once again, his words weren't satisfying me.

I needed to hear more.

I needed closure.

I looked down. "Should I give up on liking you, Nathan?"

He sighed and stood up straight, looking down and rubbing his forehead. "I don't know. It won't work anyway P. It's best to let it go."

Ouch.

He returned his attention back to his drawer and I pushed my hair back from my eyes exhaustedly.

Who ever said love was easy?

"Just like that? Do I give up just like that?"

He turned to face me. "It's not that you aren't my type, P. We just can't. And I am sorry. I shouldn't have let things gotten so deep. The things we did in this room, should not have happened."

"So do you regret it, Nate?"

He looked at me for a while and I patiently waited for a response.

He made his way over to me. "I don't, okay? You have no idea how hard this is for me."

I looked up into his eyes, staring at him for a while before asking. "Do you like me?"

He swallowed, and for the second time, hesitated. "I-I can't answer that."

I nodded, finally getting the message. "Okay. I am sorry for pressuring you about this this whole time, I should go-"

I spun around to head to the door when he gripped my hand. "Chels."

I looked back at him. "Let me go Nathan, you don't have to pity me."

"It's not pity."

"Then what is it? You can't answer if you like me or not because obviously you don't."

"Chelsy listen. It's not that I don't want you."

"Nathan you are clearly confused, you don't know what you want or who you want-"

"P, I know what I want. I just can't get it, okay? I can't have what I want."

I narrowed my eyes at him. "What do you want?"

He stared at me for a while then looked away, running a hand over his face.

"Nathan, what do you want?" I repeated, tilting my head to analyse his facial expression, hoping it would give me a hint. "Please tell me."
