The three main houses/families that's fight against the Honkai and protect humanity; House Apocalypse, House Schariac, and House Kaslana. They are also called the Noble Houses or the Branch Families.
They bear the highest prestige and respect from its members, and those belonging to these three families are often the strongest and most powerful combatants against the Honkai.
However there's a fourth house/families; Clan Emiya originated from the "Land of the Rising Sun" (Japan) this house/family are know to be infamous yet dangerous, they are a magus family, one of the only remaining old magus families remaining after the mana depletion.

House Apocalypse rules over the other two-- as it leads Schicksal with the other families as its soldiers. It represents the "Overseer". Unlike the other two families, this house does not usually produce warriors.

House Emiya, also called the Protectors of Balance, chosen by the "Counter Force" with power of "Magecraft" that constantly steers mankind away from extinction. It represents the "Servant". Unlike the two house/families they never serve under the "Apocalypse"; making them Independent only fighting for "the will of the planet/mankind".

House Emiya, also called the Protectors of Balance, they are a magus family, one of the only remaining old magus families remaining after the mana depletion.
After helping the three main houses/families decades ago, the Emiya grew increasingly isolated from the three main houses/families's affairs, culminating in most of their deaths during the Clan Downfall. Few Emiya's now survive into the present day.
Magus (plural Magi) is the term for a human practitioner of Magecraft, the magical science, as opposed to a Magician, who is capable of bringing forth true miracles that are impossible to be reenacted at the current scientific stage.
In ancient times, the term magus was used for both the users of Thaumaturgy and Magic, but with the advancement of science that made past miracles possible and the decline of the overall power of Magecraft, the differences between the two became clearer.
Every Emiya's is specified with one particular power than even Herrschers and Humans came to be frightened with, a Reality Marble.
The concept of a Reality Marble (Innate Bounded Field) is one that centres around the materialization and projection of one's inner world onto reality following the Thaumaturgical Theory World Egg.
Originally, it was an ability specifically had by daemons as their Alien Common Sense, but has since come to include the unique Bounded Fields possessed by many people, who have made this ability available to use through a long time. As such, Reality Marbles represent the pinnacle of all Bounded Fields where the boundary line becomes the space itself.
