Chapter 22: The Plan

Light broke through the trees as silent footsteps made their way through the forest as they tracked. A squirrel searched under a tree for food, unaware it was being hunted. You stayed hidden using a bush as cover with Ravi to your left. She watched and waited for your command to attack. This was her current training, hunting. You gave a sharp whistle and she took off after the squirrel. She locked her jaws on the squirrel and with a quick squeak it was dead. Ravi turned and looked at you with the squirrel hanging limp in her mouth. 

"Good girl, Ravi." You praised her and walked out of the bushes to give her a pet. She purred and ate the squirrel as a quick breakfast. 

It had been a few weeks and while the others went on some missions, you stayed at the Edge to work with Ravi and to catch Navjeev up on some training as well. Ravi was pretty much healed at that point so you thought hunting training was in order. She was doing really well with it and listened to your commands. Since she was a Speedstinger, it was in her nature to listen to a alpha which she had decided was you. Navjeev didn't mind her but at times he did seem a little jealous so you tried to work with them both as often as you could. 

Navjeev popped his head out of a bush with a dead bird in his mouth. 

"Nice job, buddy." You smiled at him and he vanished back into the bush. 

You heard sudden wingbeats and saw Hiccup land Toothless through a break in the trees not to far away. He landed and dismounted Toothless then made his way over to you. Ravi went over to him and sniffed his leg then hand before running back to your side. 

"Whatever happened, it was Snotlout." You crossed your arms and smirked. Hiccup just shook his head and looked back at you with a small smile. 

"No, that's not it. Dad sent a Terror Mail saying he found a lens and he wants us to come alone to get it" Hiccup held a letter out, you took it and scanned over the words. It wasn't your dad's handwriting, it was much to neat and you already knew who it was. 

"Well, we better go see what he's found." You played it off and folded the letter then handed it back to Hiccup. You whistled for Navjeev and he poked his head out of a bush with a feather hanging out of his mouth. 

You pulled the feather out of his mouth and hopped onto his back with Ravi hopping on behind you.  Hiccup looked at you a bit confused but went over to Toothless and mounted. Navjeev took off above the trees but before you could leave you had to have someone watch Ravi while you were gone.

Astrid had agreed to watch her since Snotlout was to much of a wuss. It was dawn by the time the two of you had reached the island "dad" had wanted you to meet at. It was a more rocky kind of island and wasn't that big. 

Navjeev glided down and landed on his feet with Toothless right behind him. Hiccup had taken the lead from there and you on Navjeev followed behind him and Toothless. In a clearing there was a large, flat rock with a Maces and Talons piece on it, obviously from Viggo. Toothless snarled at the piece and that's when you heard Viggo.  

"The Accomplice. One of the most important pieces in all of Maces and Talons, allowing a player to use an opponent's piece for their own ends" He stepped out from behind a tree with his hands folded behind his back. "You can certainly win without it, but with it, you can attain total victory." 

Toothless growled and prepared to fire when Viggo used a sword to cut a rope which shot a bola at  Toothless. He reared up as it wrapped round his muzzle and sent Hiccup flying off him. Navjeev jumped out of the way as Hiccup landed right in front of him. What the hell was Viggo doing? While Hiccup was disoriented, Viggo gave you a reassuring nod.
